What Your Job Will Be Like:We are seeking a highly motivated research and development technical staff member to serve as a RF Communication and Radar Engineer within the Space Mission Engineering Program Office (6350). The selected applicant will join our team as an R&D S&E Microwave and Sensor Engineer for Radar ISR mission and will employ differentiating technologies and capabilities to the unmet space-based mission needs of our partners.
Emphasis will be placed on developing or incorporating innovative RF and radar technologies into new architectures to meet these needs. Sandia's Space Mission Engineering Program Office (SMEPO) strives to enhance and protect the nation's space enterprise. As the trusted resource to our government and industry partners we seek solutions to the toughest space-based mission challenges and respond with resolve, creativity, and skill.
To this end, we innovate across the spectrum of space infrastructure; from ground stations to flight payloads, new materials to advanced algorithms, modeling and simulation to hardware realization, using the full strength of Sandia to create the future.

This position is based in Albuquerque, NM, and requires work to be done onsite. Occasional travel is expected.
Salary Range:$117,500 - $235,700
* Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.
Qualifications We Require:A Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline and five (5) years of directly relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of directly relevant education and engineering or scientific experience that demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform independent research and development.
The ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q with SCI security clearance.
Qualifications We Desire:The ideal R&D S&E, Microwave & Sensor Engineer candidate for Sandia National Laboratories will in addition possess the following:
Graduate degree in Electrical Engineering or a directly related field where an independent research project was a graduation requirement (e.g., independent project, thesis, or dissertation).
Laboratory skills and knowledge of RF and digital equipment
Knowledge of RF, digital communications, electronic warfare, and cyber security systems and principles
Strong space related experience
