Energy Conservation Engineer

Assist the energy conservation team with identification and implementation of energy conservation initiatives, including the following:

  • Analyzing current energy usage and strategies to provide proper environmental conditions with cost-effective energy utilization.
  • Developing short, medium, and long-range plans to implement energy conservation measures.
  • Providing review for all facilities design activities as relates to energy management.
  • Maintaining liaison with the Maintenance/Operations department to provide optimum facility comfort while reducing energy consumption levels.
  • Aiding in the development of Energy Conservation Measures (ECMs) including energy calculations, estimating project costs, estimating annual energy savings, CO2 emission avoidance, and simple paybacks.
  • Assisting with re-commissioning efforts that partner our team with utility providers and our campus peers to optimize building equipment function.
  • Partnering with the Office of Campus Sustainability and Innovation (OCSI) energy team to ensure alignment on initiatives as well as to explore project funding options.
  • Reporting out areas of opportunity to conserve energy and successes with the Michigan Medicine Facilities Team.
  • Articulating the University of Michigan Health mission and goals in the area of energy management and the University of Michigan goal of carbon neutrality by the year 2040 for global communication.
  • Taking the initiative to develop needed professional skills appropriate to job assignments.
