A well-established multidisciplinary engineering consultancy is seeking a Senior Bridge Engineer to join its growing transportation team in Baltimore. The firm delivers complex bridge and transportation infrastructure projects throughout the Mid-Atlantic, partnering with state DOTs, local governments, transit authorities and other public-sector clients. The Role
As a Senior Bridge Engineer, you will lead the design and delivery of bridge projects from feasibility through final design and construction support. You'll oversee technical delivery, mentor junior engineers, manage client relationships and play a key role in expanding the firm's bridge practice across Maryland and the surrounding region.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design and delivery of complex bridge and structural engineering projects.
- Perform and review structural analysis, design calculations and engineering reports.
- Prepare and review bridge plans, specifications and construction documents.
- Manage project budgets, schedules and technical quality.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary teams across roadway, geotechnical, traffic and environmental disciplines.
- Build and maintain relationships with clients including MDOT SHA, local municipalities and other transportation agencies.
- Mentor and develop junior engineers through technical guidance and project oversight.
- Support proposal development, business development and strategic growth initiatives.
- Provide engineering support during construction, including responding to RFIs and reviewing shop drawings.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (Master's degree is advantageous).
- Professional Engineer (PE) licence required (Maryland preferred or ability to obtain quickly through reciprocity).
- 8+ years of bridge engineering experience.
- Strong experience delivering projects for MDOT SHA, local municipalities or other transportation agencies.
- Thorough understanding of AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications.
- Experience using Micro Station, Open Bridge Designer, LEAP Bridge, Open Roads, STAAD.Pro or comparable structural design software.
- Proven ability to manage projects, coordinate teams and mentor junior staff.
- Strong communication and client-facing skills.
