Electrical Engineer – Panel Design & Power Distribution

WE ARE SEEKING:

A well-rounded Electrical Engineer to own the design, layout, and build of control panels and facility electrical distribution. In your role, your duties and responsibility will include the following:

  • Create and maintain electrical schematics based on functional specifications
  • Design control panel layout, including panel modifications, component placement, and wire routing.
  • Perform mechanical modifications to panels - knockouts, cutting holes for wire/conduit entry, and other enclosure prep
  • Source and procure electrical components (PLCs, VFDs, relays, terminal blocks, wire/cable, enclosures, etc.)
  • Assemble control panels: mounting hardware, wiring, labeling, point-to-point verification
  • Design and size power distribution for panels (transformers, breakers, load calculations)
  • Support the design of Safety Instrumented Systems consistent with IEC
    61508
  • Design functionally reliable and visually clean cable management strategies for large distributed systems
  • Manage workflow and priorities across concurrent projects
  • Communicate effectively with technicians on schematics, flagging and resolving discrepancies or open questions before and during builds
  • Troubleshoot power and signal issues in industrial equipment and instrumentation

    Maintain and create wire/cable registers and engineering documentation
  • Follow all safety training, procedures, and standards
  • Conduct hands‑on work, which will sometimes be performed outdoors
  • Other duties as needed
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE MUST BE ABLE TO MEET THE FOLLOWING REQUIREMENTS:
  • BS in an Electrical Engineering curriculum or 4+ years of relevant, documented experience
  • Proficiency developing electrical schematics in AutoCAD software
  • Strong knowledge of the NFPA 70, NFPA 79 and UL 508A standards and their application
  • Experience with hands‑on panel assembly and wiring
  • Experience working with 480

    VAC 3‑Phase generation, distribution, and loads plus 240/120

    VAC power and 24

    VDC power and signal wiring
  • Highly motivated, self‑starter with a desire to get tasks done on time and without errors
  • Ability to conduct basic physical requirements of climbing ladders, work at elevated heights, ability to lift 40 lbs., and ability to use basic hand tools
PREFERABLE ABILITIES OR KNOWLEDGE:
  • Proficiency developing panel layouts and generating drawings in 3D CAD software.
  • Experience interfacing with PLC, DCS, SCADA systems
  • Experience with digital and analog signal architecture and troubleshooting
  • Experience working with communication protocols such as Ethernet/IP, RS485, Modbus RTU, IO-Link
  • Knowledge of safety lifecycle and design as defined by IEC
    61508
