THE POSITIONAre you ready to lead complex engineering work that helps protect communities and strengthen Pennsylvania's infrastructure? As a Senior Civil Engineer Supervisor with the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT), you will oversee engineering activities that guide stormwater planning and system improvement. You will have the exciting opportunity to review designs, lead staff, and make decisions that help projects meet regulatory and technical requirements.
This role also allows you to apply your expertise in the field to solve real-world infrastructure challenges.
This position leads engineering, inspection, and planning work for district stormwater programs. Primary responsibilities include ensuring that designs, inspections, and documentation meet all safety, environmental, and regulatory standards. As a Senior Civil Engineer Supervisor (Transportation), you will perform the following duties:
- Team Leadership: Supervise engineering staff and review work involving stormwater planning and corrective actions
- Project Assessment: Evaluate stormwater assets and recommend repairs, replacements, or improvements based on performance data
- Design Review: Oversee hydrologic calculations, Post Construction Stormwater Management (PCSM) plans, inspection findings, and corrective action proposals
- Program Oversight: Coordinate Municipal Separate Storm System (MS4) and stormwater management activities to maintain compliance with federal and state rules
- Inspection Support: Participate in condition assessments and visual screenings to ensure quality and consistency
- Technical Coordination: Work with construction units and outside agencies to resolve stormwater-related engineering challenges

Work Schedule and Additional Information- Full-time employment
- Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Start and end times are negotiable.
- This position may be eligible for alternate work schedule (AWS).
- Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to 5 days per pay period. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in King of Prussia.
The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview. - Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $77,164.00 (before taxes).

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Five years of civil engineering experience in the appropriate specialty; and an Engineer-in-Training certificate issued by or acceptable to the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists; and an associate's degree in civil engineering technology or a closely related engineering discipline; or
- Six years of civil engineering experience in the appropriate specialty; and an Engineer-in-Training certificate issued by or acceptable to the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists; or
- Two years of professional civil engineering experience in the appropriate specialty, and a bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a closely related engineering discipline.
Special Requirement:
- This position requires possession of a valid driver's license.

- PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
