Packaging Engineer

Job Summary

Our client, a leading consumer products company, is seeking a Packaging Engineer to join their team! This is a 6 month contract position located in Roswell, GA, working approximately 30 hours per week, with the potential for hours to increase based on business needs. This position follows a hybrid schedule, requiring onsite work in Roswell on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, with remote work on Mondays and Thursdays.

Core working hours are 9:00 AM–3:00 PM ET. This position is W-2 only. We do not work with third-party firms or C2C arrangements for this role.

• Develop innovative and cost-effective packaging solutions that improve performance, reduce costs, and support sustainability objectives
• Design and optimize corrugated packaging solutions for new and existing products
• Evaluate existing packaging and packaging equipment capabilities to better meet customer and end-user requirements
• Support packaging development programs focused on reducing distribution costs and product damage while improving competitive advantage
• Partner with packaging suppliers to evaluate materials, technologies, manufacturing capabilities, and packaging equipment developments
• Coordinate and support packaging testing in accordance with ISTA and ASTM test methods
• Evaluate package designs, final artwork, distribution requirements, and applicable North American packaging regulations

• Bachelor's degree in Packaging Science, Industrial Design, or a related discipline, with approximately 3+ years of related packaging experience preferred
• Advanced hands‑on experience with ArtiosCAD for packaging design
• Strong experience with corrugated box and structural packaging design
• Experience using TOPS palletization software at an expert level
• Experience with industry‑standard packaging testing procedures, including ISTA and/or ASTM test methods
• Ability to conceptualize and execute packaging tests and experiments to generate and analyze relevant performance data
• Strong understanding of packaging materials, package design, and the relationship between final artwork and structural packaging

• Previous packaging engineering experience with major corrugated packaging manufacturers such as International Paper, West Rock, Pratt Industries, or similar organizations
• Knowledge of packaging material supplier manufacturing processes
• Experience supporting packaging development for consumer products
• Knowledge of distribution requirements and packaging optimization for transportation environments
• Familiarity with applicable North American packaging laws and regulations
• Knowledge of current packaging materials, technologies, sustainability practices, and industry trends
• Experience partnering directly with packaging suppliers and cross‑functional business stakeholders

The approximate pay range for this position is between $32.00 and $46.00 per hour. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to background, knowledge, skills, and location. We comply with local wage minimums.
