We are partnered with a 100% employee-owned engineering and environmental consulting firm seeking an VP of Air Quality to lead the strategy of their Permitting & Compliance services in their East Coast division
.
In this role, you will serve as a senior technical and business leader, taking ownership of air quality permitting and compliance projects while helping shape the growth and direction of the practice. You will manage lead project execution, develop new business & existing client relationships, and serve as a technical resource across a range of industrial, energy, manufacturing, and commercial clients.
This is an opportunity for an experienced air quality professional looking for greater autonomy, leadership responsibility, and a clear path toward practice and executive-level leadership. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, established client relationships, and the ability to independently manage both project delivery and business development activities.
This position can be hybrid in Pennsylvania or remote for individuals located outside of commuting distance from an office.
Key Responsibilities- Serve as a senior technical and project leader overseeing air quality permitting and compliance projects across Pennsylvania and surrounding states.
- Lead projects involving NSR, PSD, Title V, minor source permitting, emissions inventories, and regulatory compliance.
- Independently manage client relationships, project scope, budgets, schedules, and technical execution.
- Drive business development and client growth through existing relationships, networking, industry events, and new client development.
- Help shape the strategic direction and growth of the air quality practice, working closely with senior leadership.
- Identify opportunities to expand services, develop new markets, and build long-term client relationships.
- Mentor and develop junior staff while reviewing technical work for quality and regulatory accuracy.
- Serve as a trusted technical advisor to clients and internal teams on complex air quality and permitting matters.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Atmospheric Science, or related field.
- Strong experience with Pennsylvania air quality regulations and permitting, including PADEP requirements.
- Experience with NSR, PSD, Title V, and minor source permits.
- Proven ability to independently manage projects, clients, and technical deliverables.
- Strong business development and client relationship skills; established industry network or book of business is a plus.
- Demonstrated leadership experience with the ability to mentor staff and influence practice strategy.
