Job DescriptionThis is an exciting opportunity for a candidate with interest and expertise in mixed signal and RF circuits. You will gain hands‑on experience with Radar, EW, and Communications hardware and have the opportunity to develop a unique expertise in critically important technology to the USAF and broader DoD.
This position is located at Wright Patterson Air Force Base (WPAFB) and is within a commutable distance from Beavercreek, Fairborn, Dayton, and Riverside.

- Primary Responsibilities:
RF or High-Speed PCB Characterization (50%+):- Oversee the process of tracing PCB electrical connections to develop detailed board schematics sufficient for power on and interfacing/testing
- Utilize systems level knowledge of Radar, EW, and Communications systems to build a functional understanding of how PCBs and electrical assemblies operate within the broader system
- Develop non‑intrusive solutions for instrumenting relevant electrical/RF signals for effective board and system level characterization
- Secondary Responsibilities (30‑50%):
- Repair of damaged components, characterizing relevant parameters and behavior of unknown components, building test fixtures for characterization, and reporting findings in a formal report or presentation format
- Microcontroller/embedded computer programming and/or custom PCB layout as required to support characterization efforts
- Other (0‑20%):
- Assist in other efforts throughout the organization as the candidate’s skillset would lend itself and schedule/competing priorities would allow. Pursue career relevant professional development (conferences, short courses, etc.).
Degree Requirements
- 5 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 3 years relevant experience with Masters in realted field; 0 years experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 9 years relevant experience.
- B.S. in Electrical Engineering or related field
- Master’s Degree desired
- Sufficient professional experience can waive degree requirements
Experience
- 5+ years performing an electrical engineering role where knowledge was developed in at least some of the following areas
- Knowledge of analog electronics fundamentals to include basic resistor/capacitor/inductor circuits, CMOS/Bipolar transistor circuits, op‑amp configurations, filter topologies, etc
- Electrical schematic capture software package (Altium, OrCAD, KiCAD, etc.)
- PCB layout techniques and best practices
- System level RF parameters relevant to Radar and EW systems (antenna gain, amplifier gain and saturation, noise figure, knowledge of radar range equation, etc)
- Embedded communications protocols such as I2C, SPI, and JTAG
- Electronics lab test equipment to include oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies, waveform generators, etc.
- RF Test Equipment such as spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, and RF Signal Generators
- Microcontroller programming (knowledge of embedded C or C++)
- FPGA/Digital Design
- Data analysis in MATLAB, Python, or similar analysis language
- Technical Presentation
- Work history in a cleared DoD environment
Security:
- Current Active DoD Secret Clearance or Higher
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI security clearance with advanced security checks
