Benesch is seeking a Geotechnical Project Manager to join our Railroad Division, the largest, fastest-growing, and only national division in the firm. This role offers the opportunity to lead high-impact geotechnical projects across the U.S., from railroads and bridges to dams and levees.
As a senior leader on our team, you'll be the go-to geotechnical expert driving complex projects from concept to completion. You'll balance technical excellence, client partnership, and business development, while mentoring teams and shaping the future of geotechnical services across the country. This is a chance to make your mark on projects nationwide while working remotely, backed by a nationally recognized team.
While you can work from anywhere, the position is aligned with Benesch offices that have established geotechnical teams, providing direct access to top talent and resources. You'll lead and support railroad and transportation projects nationwide, backed by geotechnical hubs in Jacksonville, FL;
Nashville, TN;
Atlanta, GA; and Charlotte, Raleigh, and Wilmington, NC. Travel is required as needed to meet with clients and support project delivery.
The impact you will have:
- Lead complex geotechnical projects from concept through completion, managing budget, schedule, and quality.
- Oversee field explorations, subsurface investigations, laboratory testing, and construction observation.
- Prepare technical reports, specifications, and proposals that support project delivery and business development.
- Collaborate with clients, internal teams, and stakeholders to deliver innovative geotechnical solutions.
- Mentor junior staff and provide technical guidance across projects.
- Track project progress, identify risks, and implement strategies to ensure successful outcomes.
What we are looking for:
- B.S. in Civil Engineering; M.S. in Geotechnical Engineering preferred.
- 12+ years of geotechnical engineering experience, including project management.
- Licensed Professional Engineer or ability to obtain PE quickly.
- Proficiency in geotechnical software (AutoCAD, Geostudio, Lpile, or similar).
- Knowledge of transportation and railroad design and construction standards.
- Strong communication and leadership skills, with ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Willingness to travel to project sites nationwide.
