The Civil CAD / 3D GPS Modeling Technician is a full-time, remote role responsible for creating and maintaining accurate civil construction models for machine control and survey applications. Day-to-day responsibilities include:
- Developing surface models and design files from engineer plans.
- Preparing and exporting field-ready machine-control files for Trimble, Topcon, and Leica platforms.
- Ensuring models comply with project CAD standards.
- Interpreting drawings, cross-sections, grading plans, and related civil documents.
- Performing quality checks, incorporating plan revisions, and maintaining clear revision and version-control records.
- Collaborating with project managers and clients to resolve questions and coordinate deliverables.
- Organizing and documenting model files and project deliverables.
Qualifications:
- Strong CAD and technical-drawing skills for civil/site-development projects.
- Knowledge of civil engineering plans, grading, drainage, earthwork calculations, and digital terrain modeling.
- Knowledge of CAD standards and drawing practices to ensure consistency and accuracy across project deliverables.
- Experience with Trimble Business Center or similar model-based workflows.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accurate, field-ready deliverables.
- Familiarity with 3D machine control and GPS modeling platforms (e.g., Trimble, Topcon, Leica) is highly beneficial.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple deadlines, and communicate clearly in a remote environment.
- Effective communication skills for coordinating with project teams and clients.
- Associate's or bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Drafting, Surveying, or related field preferred, or equivalent practical experience.
