Position: Lead Engineer - Substation Design ( Hybrid Schedule)
Location: East Berlin

Eversource supports work life balance by offering hybrid schedules for certain roles  Eligibility is based on job responsibilities, operational needs, nature of work and team dynamics  Current guidelines require employees to work at least three days in the office, including Tuesdays and Wednesdays, with the third day set by the employee and supervisor based on department needs  These guidelines apply to roles approved for remote work and are subject to change, based on managerial discretion and work performance  All applicants must be able to work up to five days in the office if needed  for example: emergencies, training, or other business needs  or should the policy change

Role and Scope of Position:

Lead Engineer is responsible for the development, expansion, planning, design, maintenance and operation of the system and its equipment to meet the mission and objectives of the organization  In addition, this position coordinates the evaluation of system failures, and the appropriate resolutions, to provide support to operations on unplanned maintenance  Responsible for ensuring that the Eversource transmission and distribution systems are designed to high quality standards that provide customers with safe, reliable, competitively priced, and environmentally sound electric service  This position shares accountability with peers in the strategy, development, and design of the organization's Life Cycle Plan, a comprehensive long term plan for the transmission/distribution system  Responsible for supervising, assigning, prioritizing, and directing the work performed by other Engineers and staff

Substation Engineering is responsible for working on substation design, maintenance, and support, optimizing the cost and performance of substation equipment on the transmission/distribution system  Substation Engineering also supports emergent and/or equipment failures, as necessary, to support operations   Additionally, this role would be working with ISO NE on all Transmission level interconnects of Battery Energy Storage Systems  BESS , Solar Farms, and traditional generation requests   Substation review for upgrades and replacements to allow for Distributed Energy Resource  DER  interconnects into the distribution system are also reviewed as part of this position

* Essential Functions:

* + Supervises, coaches, and develops engineers; approves time and conducts performance reviews   Assigns, prioritizes and directs work performed by at least 2 FTE Engineers
+ Responsible for the cost and performance of certain assets on the system which may include reliability analysis and trending of system events and monitoring of equipment condition
+ Responsible for the development, justification and approval of the Life Cycle Plan activities over a multi year horizon and for ongoing projects
+ Ensures that the design and specification of additions, modifications and replacements to the transmission and distribution systems, and the preparation of system electrical permits and related customer notifications, are completed accurately and on time
+ Responsible for the development of preliminary engineering designs and the details, as necessary
+ Collaborates with other Engineers within Engineering to ensure consistency and teamwork
+ Provides technical support and direction to operating areas relative to system priorities, engineering guidelines and operating decisions during normal and emergency situations
+ Accountable for root cause analysis, development and implementation of corrective actions
+ Responsible for the evaluation and selection of technology and equipment for the system
+ Responsible for the development of standards and procedures for design, operation and maintenance
+ Assumes the role of the Manager as required
+ Expected to assist with storm duty and any other major events

+ Knowledge of utility power systems is preferred
+ Ability to independently develop, present and execute new projects through collaborations with other departments
+ Familiarity with power related software is preferred

Education:

+ Bachelor's degree in Engineering is required  Electrical Engineering degree preferred

_Experience_ :

+ Minimum of eight  8  years in the technical, operational, or engineering aspects of the electrical utility industry   Supervisory experience preferred
