Morton Thomas and Associates, Inc. (AMT) is an employee‑owned ENR 500 A/E firm headquartered in Rockville, Maryland. AMT specializes in civil engineering, construction management, traffic and transportation design, water and wastewater systems, environmental resources, and landscape architecture.
Position OverviewTransportation Project Manager – Full‑time – Towson, MD or Rockville, MD. The role offers a hybrid work schedule with 2–3 days per week working from home as agreed with the Transportation Group Leader.
Responsibilities- Lead multi‑discipline teams to deliver transportation design projects, with a focus on multi‑modal roadway projects.
- Serve as liaison between client and project team, including external stakeholder agencies.
- Manage all technical resources on the project team, including subconsultants.
- Prepare task proposals and establish project pricing and budgets.
- Develop project management plans and prepare monthly progress reports.
- Develop and maintain project schedules.
- Lead or participate in client meetings and presentations.
- Provide quality control reviews of submittals and deliverables.
- Mentor and train junior staff.
- Assist with production tasks (CADD drawings, reports, graphics/renderings, etc.).
- Assist Group Leader and Division Directors with business development and proposals.
- Maintain positive working relationships with co‑workers, project managers, supervisors, and other team members.
- Professional Engineer (PE) in Maryland, Virginia, or Washington, DC (required).
- 8 to 12 years of experience in roadway, highway, and traffic control plan preparation with prior project management experience.
- Proficiency with Micro Station/Open Roads and/or AutoCAD/Civil 3D.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Hybrid work schedule.
