Pay Rate: $40.00 - $46.62/hr on W2 Position Summary
The Mechanical Engineer / Drafter will provide comprehensive design and drafting support to Client's R&D, Sustaining R&D, and Manufacturing Engineering teams. This position will support the development of Intelliblade (microwave ablation) and cryotherapy systems for cancer treatment. The ideal candidate will be hands‑on, detail‑oriented, and highly proficient in CAD applications such as Solid Works and Creo, with a strong understanding of design documentation and revision control.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare layouts, drawings, and designs according to engineering specifications.
- Produce detailed 3D models, assemblies, and manufacturing drawings using Solid Works software.
- Perform engineering design calculations and ensure accuracy in technical documentation.
- Review engineering drawings and supporting documents for adherence to drafting standards.
- Create CAD design layouts, detail drawings of products, and PCB layouts as required.
- Design and produce 3D printed fixtures for manufacturing, testing, and other engineering needs.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to collect project data, analyze requirements, and communicate findings clearly—both verbally and in writing.
- Display final drawings for verification of completeness, clarity, and accuracy.
- Apply Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) principles to ensure manufacturability and accuracy.
- Participate in troubleshooting and issue resolution during prototype builds and production hand‑offs.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Drafting, or related STEM field.
- 4–8 years of experience in mechanical design, drafting, or related industries (aerospace, defense, or industrial manufacturing).
- Proficiency in Solid Works (required); experience with Creo, Solid Edge, or Pro‑E is a plus.
- Experience with PDM systems and familiarity with revision control and documentation standards.
- Hands‑on experience with lab or shop environments—comfortable with prototyping, building, or testing parts.
- Trained in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
- Strong attention to detail and ability to deliver accurate work under minimal supervision.
- Familiarity with medical device design control processes and standards (21 CFR Part 820 or ISO 13485).
- Experience designing tooling or fixtures for manufacturing or testing applications.
- Solid understanding of mechanical tolerances and material properties.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills; comfortable collaborating with engineers and technicians.
- Entry‑level mechanical engineers with strong drafting fundamentals are also encouraged to apply.
