About Impact Environmental

At Impact Environmental, we put clients on solid ground — and the same goes for the people who work here. Since 1989, we've carried projects from initial site assessment through regulatory closure, which means our people learn the whole process, not one narrow slice of it. We're a multidisciplinary team of scientists, geologists, engineers, and field technicians, and we hire people who think critically and want to own their work.

That means real field time, direct client contact, and mentorship at every step from senior professionals who ve built their own careers here and are invested in yours.

The Role

We are hiring an Environmental Project Manager to lead New York projects from our Bohemia office. You will manage a portfolio of brownfield, due diligence, and remediation projects for a private-sector client base of developers, industrial property owners, institutions, and their counsel — and you will own both the technical quality and the financial performance of that portfolio. This is a hands-on project management role, not an administrative one.

You will be in the field, in front of clients, and in front of regulators.

Flexibility

This is an in-person role — our project managers are in the office and in the field, because that's where client relationships, field oversight, and mentorship actually take place. Within that, we support remote work when project schedules allow, and we work it out with each project manager.

What You Will Do
  • Manage environmental projects across a range of local, state, and federal regulatory drivers, including the NYSDEC Brownfield Cleanup Program, NYC OER E-Designation and Voluntary Cleanup Program, RCRA, and Superfund.
  • Plan and direct field investigation programs covering soil, soil vapor, and groundwater, including analytical program design, laboratory selection, and data evaluation.
  • Evaluate subsurface conditions and develop remedial approaches that are technically defensible and constructible.
  • Prepare and review work plans, technical reports, and regulatory correspondence with a focus on quality, defensibility, and meeting client and agency objectives.
  • Direct project staff and subcontractors; develop scopes, cost estimates, and schedules and manage the work to them.
  • Serve as day-to-day client contact, anticipate client needs, and build durable client relationships.
  • Manage project financial performance, including budgets, change orders, invoicing, and profitability.
What You Bring
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in geology, environmental science, environmental engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • Minimum of 8 years of New York environmental consulting, engineering, geology, or environmental science experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to carry projects from scoping through regulatory closure.
  • Strong technical writing, organizational, and client communication skills.
  • Strong computer literacy, including proficiency with industry-standard software.
  • Willingness to be based in our Suffolk County office with travel into the five boroughs. Company vehicles are available.
  • Valid driver’s license and a driving record satisfactory under the company’s motor vehicle record policy.
Preferred, Not Required
  • Professional license or certification:
Professional Geologist (PG), Professional Engineer (PE), or Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM).
  • OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER, and OSHA 10-Hour or 30-Hour Construction Safety.
  • Experience with Surfer, MODFLOW, AutoCAD, or GIS.
  • Established business development relationships in the New York market.
Compensation and Benefits

$100,000 – $125,000 per year. Placement within the range depends on years of relevant New York regulatory experience, professional credentials, and demonstrated project management history.

  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • Employer-paid life insurance and long-term disability coverage
  • Retirement plan with company match
  • Flexible Spending Account and Dependent Care Account
  • Paid time off and paid holidays
  • Company vehicles…
