As an Outside Plant Engineer, you will manage a variety of internal and external partners and vendors to oversee OSP/ISP construction and maintenance of network extension projects to deliver fiber to new and existing customers. Your vital role will ensure that these multi-stakeholder, complex projects are delivered on time, to specifications, and within budget. You will be managing all engineering and construction activities of assigned projects associated with expanding and maintaining the OSP network infrastructure.

No stranger to a fast-paced environment, you balance multiple assignments and opposing priorities while staying passionate about important deadlines.
As a strong communicator, you can quickly build relationships with a diverse range of people and explain complex technical issues in a way that everyone can understand.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design Routes:
Create maps for fiber optic cable paths - Manage Permits:
Work with local cities, towns and departments of transportation to secure rights-of-way permits. - Ability to coordinate with vendors, utility providers, and local government agencies
- Estimate Costs:
Build budgets, material lists, and project timelines. - Oversee Construction:
Direct contractors and check field work for quality. - Respond to network outages addressing fiber damage for network restoration
- Document Systems:
Manage and update records using systems such as Fiber-X and Canvas
You'll need to have:
- Associate's degree or two or more years of work experience.
- Three or more years of relevant experience required, demonstrated through work experience and/or military experience.
- Willingness to travel up to approximately 25% of the time.
- Valid Driver's license.
Even better if you have one or more of the following:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or technical/science/mathematics fields.
- Experience in CAD, 3
GIS, ARCGIS, Google Earth or other mapping and drafting software. - Experience in Google Workspace or Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience with Verizon applications such as ERP, nSAP, CoE/Canvas, 3
GIS, Fiber-X, FIAT, and VPM. - Corporate data and reporting platforms (Google Sheets, Excel, Tableau, Cheetah, or others).
- Experience with pole attachment and make-ready processes
- Experience with AI tools to automate repetitive tasks(Gemini, NotebookLM, Claude).

Where You'll Be WorkingIn this hybrid role, you'll have a defined work location that includes working from home and a minimum of three days per week in the office, which will be set by your manager. Employees are responsible for maintaining compliance with hybrid work policies.
