Our client, a nationally recognized, 100% employee-owned engineering and construction firm, is seeking a Staff/Senior Structural Engineer to join its Transmission & Distribution team in Orlando, FL. This full-time, primarily onsite role offers the opportunity to work on critical power infrastructure projects, including electrical substations and transmission systems, as well as a variety of facilities such as power plants, industrial sites, healthcare, airports, educational, commercial, and governmental buildings.
This is an excellent opportunity for structural engineers from diverse backgrounds—including bridge, building, industrial, transportation, and water/wastewater—to apply their expertise in foundations, steel structures, structural analysis, and engineering design. Prior utility experience is not required. You will join a highly visible team where structural engineers play a critical role in project execution, influence design decisions, mentor junior engineers, interact directly with clients, and contribute to major infrastructure projects nationwide.
Perform structural design for projects from conceptual phase through design completion
Modify and review production drawings for a wide range of facility types, including power plants, process facilities, industrial, healthcare, airports, educational, commercial, governmental, and military buildings
Design structural components based on project requirements set by project managers
Apply strong knowledge of commonly used structural engineering/design concepts, principles, practices, codes, and procedures within the industry
Research and compile project-related data as required by project managers
Update and verify corrections in drawings using multiple CAD-related software
Compile information for client presentations, shop drawing review, and contract administration
Perform field inspections, measurements, and calculations for public and private clients
Mentor junior engineers and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
Comply with all company policies and standards
Perform other duties as assigned
Bachelor of Science in Structural Engineering or related degree from an ABET-accredited program and 3 years of structural engineering experience, OR
Bachelor of Science in Structural Engineering or related Engineering Technology from an ABET-accredited program, successful completion of the FE exam, and 3 years of structural engineering experience, OR
Master of Science degree in Structural Engineering and 2 years of structural engineering experience
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment; demonstrated critical thinking skills
Proficient in standard engineering techniques and procedures
Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite
Proficiency with structural analysis programs (e.g., RISA 3D), AutoCAD, ETABS, SAFE, and BIM software (e.g., Revit, Tekla)
Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization, and problem-solving skills
Engineers in Training (EIT) Certification preferred
