About the RoleWe are seeking a skilled CAD Drafter with strong Solid Works experience to join our team and support the design and development of sporting goods and sporting equipment. This role will be responsible for creating detailed 2D drawings and 3D CAD models, preparing manufacturing documentation, and working closely with engineering and product development teams to bring sporting products from concept to production.
This is a remote position
, with a preference for candidates located near Albany, NY for occasional in-person collaboration, meetings, or product development activities.
- Create and maintain detailed 3D models and assemblies using Solid Works
. - Produce accurate 2D manufacturing drawings, including dimensions, tolerances, notes, and material specifications.
- Convert engineering concepts, sketches, and prototypes into production-ready CAD drawings.
- Develop drawings and documentation for sporting equipment, components, and accessories.
- Revise existing drawings and CAD models based on engineering and manufacturing requirements.
- Work with engineers, designers, manufacturers, and suppliers to ensure drawings accurately reflect product requirements.
- Apply GD&T and standard drafting practices where appropriate.
- Assist with design-for-manufacturing considerations and identify potential issues before production.
- Maintain organized CAD files, drawing revisions, and product documentation.
- Support prototyping, testing, and product improvement activities.
- Ensure drawings meet company standards and manufacturing requirements.
- 2+ years of professional CAD drafting experience preferred.
- Strong proficiency with Solid Works
. - Experience creating detailed manufacturing drawings and 3D assemblies.
- Understanding of mechanical drafting principles, dimensions, tolerances, and GD&T.
- Ability to interpret engineering sketches, specifications, and design concepts.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines independently.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills in a remote work environment.
- Experience with sporting goods, outdoor products, consumer products, equipment, or mechanical components is a plus.
- Experience working with manufacturers or overseas suppliers is a plus.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on CAD professional who enjoys turning ideas into real products. You should be comfortable working independently, have a strong eye for detail, and understand how CAD drawings translate into physical parts and finished products.
