The company provides full-service design and engineering with particular expertise in turnkey project management and state and local AHJ permitting.

Based in a centrally located office in Indianapolis, Indiana, Five Nine Design Group supports project delivery in 47 states, offering team members exposure to diverse markets and project types.

Role Description The Project Architect is a full-time, hybrid role based in Indianapolis, IN, with flexibility for partial work from home. This role is for a highly motivated professional on a management career track who will be responsible for leading the design and construction document production of telecommunications and mission critical facilities, including developing architectural plans, coordinating with engineering disciplines, preparing and obtaining AHJ permit approvals, and overseeing project deliverables.

Day-to-day tasks include project management, team assignments, team management, AHJ process research, project planning, site due diligence coordination, site and grading design, creation of construction documents sets, engineering consultant coordination and work review, AHJ permit submittal and applications, AHJ approval coordination, construction administration, and collaborating other internal teams to complete projects, ensure work quality standards, and maintain project schedule commitments.

All projects will be in the telecommunications and mission critical facility industry.

Qualifications

  • Must be willing to relocate to Indianapolis Indiana or surrounding area to directly oversee design and engineering team.
  • Licensed Architect, with 10+ years professional experience in project architect role.
  • Strong foundation in Architecture, including building design, code compliance, and technical detailing.
  • Experience with Project Management, including scheduling, coordination with multidisciplinary teams, and deliverable oversight.
  • Proficient in multi-tasking and accomplishing multiple project goals efficiently and effectively in a fast paced and high-pressure telecommunications industry;
  • Possesses high level of organization, attention to detail, and proficiency in time management;
  • Requires ability to self-perform a variety of architectural and project management tasks to produce designs, AutoCAD drawings, review and redlines, reports, and documents required for completing projects.
  • Knowledge of profession tools and workflows for design, documentation, and coordination.
  • Capable to regularly review the status of projects and work to ensure that team members are not delayed due to a lack of information, and that all projects are completed on schedule and in accordance with company standards, policies and procedures.
  • Strong communication skills, ability to work collaboratively in a hybrid environment.
  • Requires communication with senior management on project goals, schedules, budgets, and milestones.
  • Requires effective communication and leadership to manage project teams of engineers, CAD designers/drafters, technicians, consultants with ability to evaluate and be responsible for direct quality and accuracy of work performed by internal staff and external consultants.
  • Requires effective communication with telecommunications clients to determine scope, present project designs, obtain AHJ approvals, and manage project completion process on time and on budget.
  • Requires identification, communication, and interaction with National, State, and Local authorities having jurisdiction (AHJs) for obtaining project required approvals.
  • Posses a commitment to quality and client service.
  • Increased compensation for direct experience with telecommunications or mission critical facilities.
