Property Loss Control Engineer / Consultant
Remote (U.S. Based) Full Time
HGI is a leading fire protection engineering and consulting firm helping clients protect the assets that matter most to their businesses. We are seeking a Property Loss Control Engineer or Consultant to join our growing team and work alongside senior staff who provide mentorship as you build your expertise and empower our clients to prevent property damage and disrupted operations from perils such as fire and natural hazards.
You will build and maintain trusted relationships with client personnel through consistent, reliable service. You will evaluate insurer property loss control reports, recommendations, and Loss Expectancies (“LEs”) on behalf of clients, and present alternative risk-reduction solutions informed by client risk tolerance.
You will review project submittals and prepare written recommendations addressing property risks from perils such as fire and natural hazards. You will also prepare design specifications for fire protection systems and advise client project teams from pre-construction through commissioning.
Site Surveys & Client TrainingYou will conduct site surveys, fire hazard analyses, and water supply evaluations at industrial and commercial facilities, perform property loss investigations following loss events, and deliver client training on human element programs, such as hot work management, impairment management, and fire protection system inspection, testing, and maintenance.
Professional GrowthYou will work alongside senior PLC engineers and consultants who provide technical review and mentorship, building the experience needed to take on increasing engagement responsibility over time.
RESPONSIBILITIES- Build and maintain trusted relationships with client personnel through consistent, reliable service
- Manage
client communications, priorities, and expectations related to assigned engagements - Evaluate insurer property loss control reports
, recommendations, and Loss Expectancies (“LEs”) on behalf of clients - Advise on recommendation priority based on frequency, severity, and risk-reduction return on investment
- Present alternative risk-reduction solutions with anticipated implementation costs, informed by client risk tolerance and internal loss control standards
- Attend insurer property loss control surveys on behalf of clients
- Review project submittals, and prepare written recommendations addressing property risks from fire and natural hazards
- Prepare design specifications for construction and fire protection systems for new or modified facilities
- Advise client project teams and their contractors from pre-construction through commissioning of commercial and industrial facilities
- Conduct site surveys, fire hazard analyses, and water supply evaluations at industrial and commercial facilities
- Perform property loss investigations and analysis following loss events
, including summary reports and lessons learned - Develop and deliver client training on human element programs
, such as hot work management, impairment management, and fire protection system inspection, testing, and maintenance - Ability to perform confidently and decisively
