What Your Job Will Be Like:
We are seeking highly motivated Electronics Technologist to join our team. Ultimately, your hands-on electronics assembly and bench testing knowledge and skills will be used to develop and support electronics testing and identify and solve problems as they arise. The variety of applications requires a strong foundation in electrical and engineering principles--any part from resistors to ICs could require installation, rework, and characterization.
On-the-job training is available with this position.
On any given day, you may be called on to:
Partner with our engineers and other technologists to develop and execute testing of various commercial electronics
Assist on multiple parts being tested
Assemble and rework printed circuit boards
Troubleshoot testing problems
Integrate hardware and software
Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant will be required to work onsite.
Applicants on this requisition may be interviewed by multiple organizations at Sandia National Laboratories.
Salary Range:
$74,700 - $144,400
* Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.
Qualifications We Require:
High school diploma plus 5 or more years of directly relevant experience
IPC Class-3 Soldering skill and inspection competence
Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q security clearance
Qualifications We Desire:
Associate's degree in an engineering/electrical field of study
Experience working in a laboratory environment, particularly related to electrical/electronic testing
Ability to collaborate with engineering staff to test hardware and document test results
Demonstrated ability to build cable assemblies to a drawing specification
Demonstrated ability to assemble and rework PCBs to include components as small as 0402, Ball Grid Arrays (BGAs) and Quad-Flat No-lead (QFN) packages
IPC J-STD-001, IPC 7711/7721, IPC-A-610 and IPC/WHMA-A-620 certifications preferred
Knowledge of operation of electronic production test equipment
Knowledge of operation of thermal and vacuum test environments
Flight Hardware and Flight Systems Background
Understanding of Manufacturing Best Practices
Knowledge of Printed Circuit Board (PCB) manufacturing, conformal coatings and potted electronics applications and methods
PCB schematic review and document finalization
Understanding of chemical safety, handling protocols, and curing methods
History of work in lab environments, including inventory management and parts ordering
