Overview
Lead Fire Protection Engineer role to oversee the design, coordination, and delivery of fire protection systems for various building types. Work remotely or in one of our national offices. Responsibilities include managing project teams, leading client coordination, and producing deliverables such as calculations, drawings, and specifications. Apply NFPA and building code knowledge, oversee system design and equipment selection, and perform site visits throughout the project lifecycle.
Lead and mentor staff and support client relationships. Ideal candidates have strong technical expertise in fire protection, plumbing, and mechanical systems, with proficient use of Revit/AutoCAD.
- Project team leadership and discipline management to complete projects on time and within budget
- Prepare deliverables including narratives, calculations, drawings, and specifications
- Attend client meetings and coordinate external and internal project teams
- Apply engineering judgment from concepts through construction
- Proficient in mechanical, plumbing, and fire protection design
- Design and plan fire protection systems and layouts
- Assemble effective project teams and develop work plans
- Coordinate interdisciplinary work and ensure quality with NFPA and building codes
- Oversee calculations and equipment selection; perform site visits and issue reports
- Provide training, guidance, and mentorship for staff
- Update master specifications and standards; improve company processes
- Develop client relationships and determine system requirements for various building types
- Oversee application of the project quality management plan (QMP)
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or equivalent experience
- Relevant professional credential (e.g., PE, CPD)
- 7+ years of related work experience
- Strong leadership and ability to inspire and motivate staff
- Advanced understanding of fire protection design concepts, codes, and ability to communicate design options
- Strong delegation and attention to detail with organizational skills
- Microsoft Office Suite;
Revit/AutoCAD experience (Auto Sprink preferred) - Knowledge of plumbing codes and standards including UPC, IPC, NFPA, and IBC
- Base salary range: $102,600–$126,800 annually
- Overtime eligibility: time and a half

The base salary is a component of PAE’s compensation package, with consideration given to factors such as skills, experience, credentials, and location.
