Position OverviewWoolpert is hiring a Marine Geophysical Specialist to join our dynamic Maritime Team. This position is responsible for marine geophysical surveys using a variety of industry-standard software and sensors. This position is eligible for remote work and extensive travel is required to support projects in Alaska, Hawaii, and contiguous USA.

What You Will Do:- Perform geophysical surveys support of government and private sector clients in energy, telecommunications, environmental remediation, transportation, and utilities.
- Travel extensively up for periods of up to four weeks at a time and typically not more than six months per year.
- Utilize geophysical survey systems such as multibeam sonar, side scan sonar, sub-bottom profilers, magnetometers and gradiometers, ultra-high resolution seismic sources, and GNSS positioning systems.
- Marine geophysical and hydrographic survey:
Fieldwork may range from daytime operations on small inflatables boats to 24-hour operations on offshore ships. - Candidates may be required to transport and operate company owned vessels up to 30 feet in length. However, a captain's license is not required.
- When not in the field, the candidate will support marine geophysical data processing and analysis, reporting, field planning, logistics, proposal writing, and estimating.
- Occasionally candidates will be required to acquire or process using atypical tools. This may include GNSS topographic survey, vessel-based LiDAR, ROV operations, drone operations, Acoustic Doppler Current Profilers, bottom sampling using grab samples or piston cores, Cone Pentrometers Testing, etc.
- Survey system integration, data quality control, and troubleshooting.
- Support the entire geophysical project life cycle, including proposal development, survey design, mobilization, survey acquisition, QA-QC, data processing, data interpretation, and reporting.
- A bachelor's degree in surveying, geomatics, environmental science, ocean engineering, coastal and ocean policy, geology, geography, geophysics, oceanography, spatial science, marine science, physics, mathematics or comparable field plus a minimum of 5 years of job-related experience, or a master's degree plus 3 years of job-related experience.
- Ability to work in a team environment, self-manage, and manage others.
- Experience in the installation, calibration, operation, post-processing, analysis, and QA/QC of geophysical systems (including multibeam and single-beam sonar, side scan sonar, sub-bottom profilers, sparkers, boomers, S-UHRS, marine magnetometers, gradiometers, USBL positioning systems, and inertial navigation systems).
- Experience with industry standard software packages such as: QPS Qinsy and Qimera, Sonar Wiz, Mogo Sea View, Hypack, Oasis Montaj, Kingdom Suite, Seismic Unix, Discover, Global Mapper, POS Pac, ArcGIS, etc.
