Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering
Kentucky Professional Engineer (PE) License Required
6+ years of distribution protection engineering experience OR 6+ years of relay settings/protection systems experience within utilities
Experience with Synergi Electric or another fault studies tool (CYME, Milsoft, Easy Power, or ETAP)
Strong history in utility distribution protection especially with the SEL-651R relays (SEL = Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories)
Candidates must have experience with:
- Relay settings development
- Relay settings reviews
- Fault study analysis
- Distribution substations
- Protection & control schemes
- One-line and three-line diagram interpretation
Nice to Have
Skills & Experience:
Power Base experience
Completion of ADMS-related projects
System commissioning experience
Project management support experience
Mentoring junior engineers
Experience with power quality devices
Job Description:
A client is seeking a Power Distribution & Protection Engineer that can sit remotely. This is a senior-level power systems engineering role focused on protecting electric distribution systems. The engineer will create and review relay settings, perform fault studies, support capital projects, troubleshoot protection equipment, and mentor junior engineers.
The ideal candidate comes from a utility, electric cooperative, engineering consulting firm, or power delivery environment and has deep experience with protection relays and distribution systems.
