What Your Job Will Be LikeWe are seeking a Distinguished Electromechanical Technologist to join our Equipment Lifecycle Management team.
On any given day, you may be called on to:
- Perform a variety of duties in support of technical activities related to Equipment Lifecycle Management projects and associated process infrastructure equipment (PIE)
- Work closely with department and center staff to support new and ongoing equipment projects. This individual will be a key resource to technical staff in equipment and PIE choices, including installation, modification, upgrades and replacements. Often requires creative problem solving and an ability to design and implement unique solutions
- Lead projects that require a high level of knowledge of equipment mechanics and process performance to achieve success.
- Research, collect data, analyze results and develop solutions for a variety of equipment and infrastructure challenges, including for safety critical system
- Support instrumentation, process mechanics, high precision tolerance measuring in automated and manual systems, testing and troubleshooting of systems, including building systems
- Experience designing and overseeing teams that provide rigging, millwright, hoisting, and transport for unusually large, heavy, high-value equipment systems. This includes high precision alignment of critical equipment
- Mentor staff, technologists and management as required to lead, assist and share a deep level of knowledge
Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant will be required to work onsite.
Salary Range$102,400 - $168,800
* Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.
Qualifications We Require- High school diploma, plus eight (8) or more years of directly related experience
- Experience in equipment installations, characterizations, and utility requirements
- Experience in high dollar/high consequence equipment moves/installations
- Experience and demonstrated skill investigating problems affecting systems and equipment and recommending and implementing solutions
- Experience in leading technical teams in investigating issues, developing and implementing solutions
- At least 3 and a maximum of 5 letters of recommendation are required, upon request by the hiring manager
- 3-5 years' experience collaborating on technical projects customers external to your immediate team
- An active DOE Q clearance, or equivalent is required to start
- High school diploma, plus twenty (20) or more years of directly related experience.
- Experience in Power Source Technologies, Neutron Generators or Energetics equipment or facilities, infrastructure, and processes
- Extensive expertise in high precision manufacturing equipment selection, evaluation, logistics, installation, and maintenance
- Ability to work independently and team with a group of people who have diverse skill sets and can deliver to their customers with excellence
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, and written/oral communication skills
Department 7573 provides asset and infrastructure support to Centers 7500 and 7400. The Equipment Lifecycle Management team coordinates equipment needs across the center, and leads projects to procure, install and characterize new equipment, including replacements and new capabilities. The Calibration & Maintenance team supports all center equipment with preventative and corrective maintenance and calibration. The infrastructure team coordinates with Division 4000 on facility needs and manages process infrastructure equipment across the center.
