Inland Empire Fire Protection (IEFP) is seeking an experienced Lead Fire Sprinkler Designer to join our team in Spokane, Washington.

Since 1984, IEFP has played an important role in designing and supporting fire safety systems throughout the Inland Pacific Northwest. Our work can be found in schools, hospitals, shopping centers, community facilities, apartment buildings, high-rise offices, storage facilities, manufacturing facilities, military installations, and more.

We're looking for an experienced fire sprinkler design professional who brings strong technical knowledge, problem-solving skills, and expertise in water-based fire protection systems. This is an opportunity to take on a key design role with an established organization while working on a diverse range of projects throughout the region.

This position is ideally based in our Spokane office; however, IEFP is open to a hybrid arrangement that combines in-office and remote work for the right candidate.

What You'll Do

As our Lead Fire Sprinkler Designer, you'll apply your technical expertise to the development and execution of fire suppression system designs. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, specifications, and computer-generated reports.
  • Develop and support precise technical plans, drawings, blueprints, and system designs.
  • Apply advanced knowledge of fire suppression systems, including system design, use, repair, and maintenance.
  • Collaborate with engineers and other team members to implement procedures, resolve system issues, and provide technical guidance.
  • Research and analyze customer design proposals, specifications, manuals, and other project information.
  • Evaluate the feasibility, cost, and maintenance requirements associated with designs and applications.
  • Obtain/register the required Certificate of Competency to serve as a stamping designer for IEFP following employment.
  • Provide feedback to design engineers regarding customer needs, challenges, and system requirements.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues and develop practical solutions while maintaining compliance with applicable requirements.
  • Stay current with local building codes, OSHA requirements, and applicable health and safety regulations.
What You'll Bring

We're looking for someone with significant fire protection design expertise who can work independently, adapt to changing priorities, and collaborate effectively with people throughout the organization.

Required qualifications include:
  • NICET Level III certification or higher in Water-Based Systems Layout (required for eligibility as a stamping designer within IEFP)
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid state driver's license
  • U.S. citizenship due to access requirements involving sensitive information and/or restricted facilities
  • Strong knowledge of fire suppression systems and design principles
  • Excellent troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
  • Familiarity with local building codes and OSHA regulations
  • Knowledge of current health and safety requirements
  • Ability to successfully manage changing priorities and situations
  • Self-motivated approach with the ability to work effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization

Candidates must also be able to successfully complete a post-offer drug screen, background check, and reference check.

The salary range for this position is $76,900–$115,300 annually
, depending on experience, qualifications, certifications, and overall fit for the role.
