The Controls Engineer II, reporting to the Chief Electrical Engineer, is responsible for the design and programming of electrical control systems for industrial air pollution control, energy recovery, and wastewater treatment projects. This position works medium to high complexity level projects, applying established design principles while developing advanced technical skills. The role involves creating PLC/HMI/VFD programs, configuring control networks, ensuring compliance with safety standards, and supporting field commissioning activities.

Controls Engineer II is expected to work independently on well-defined scopes of work and collaborate closely with senior engineers on larger, custom-engineered projects.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Controls Engineer II will be expected to perform:

  • Independently design and develop PLC, HMI, using Siemens TIA Portal and Rockwell Studio 5000
  • Create and validate control logic, alarms, safety interlocks, and sequences of operation for assigned projects
  • Design and configure control network architectures, including Ethernet/IP, Profinet, and Modbus TCP/IP communication systems
  • Create, review and update electrical schematics and interconnect diagrams using AutoCAD Electrical in compliance with customer specifications as well as NFPA 70/79/86 and FM Global standards
  • Create and revise Electrical Bill of Materials (EBOMs) within the ERP platform to ensure alignment with company standards and project requirements
