What will your summer look like?As an intern, you'll contribute to meaningful work while gaining hands-on experience in your chosen engineering discipline. You will work alongside experienced engineers on projects that strengthen communities, improve infrastructure, and shape the future. But your experience won't stop there. You'll have opportunities to explore our other technical practice areas, helping you discover new interests and better understand where your career can take you.
Whether you're passionate about water, transportation, or environmental solutions, you'll gain valuable insight into the diverse work we do across the firm. We also believe internships are about more than technical experience—they're about building your professional network. Throughout the summer, you'll build relationships with other interns, early-career professionals, and leaders across Freese and Nichols through professional development, social events, and opportunities to learn from people throughout the firm.

Majors we hire:Civil/Environmental/Water Resource Engineering Biological and Agricultural/Biosystems Engineering Structural/Geotechnical/Geological Engineering Mechanical Engineering (Water Transmission & Utilities only)
What You May Work On:- Support project teams with calculations, analysis, and design
- Help prepare plans, reports, and other project deliverables
- Collect and analyze project or field data
- Work with experienced engineers to review your work and build your technical skills
- Use software and tools to help solve real project problems
Current student pursuing a BS or MS degree in one of the majors listed above
Graduation date of August 2027 or later
Student organizational involvement
The annual salary range for this position is $18/hour - $30.80/hour and is dependent on candidate's qualifications as compared to minimum and preferred requirements.
Exempt employees are eligible for overtime pay at a straight-time hourly rate for any hours over forty (40) hours per week.
Employees are eligible for annual bonuses and amounts are determined by company profitability and growth, and for employees at higher compensation grades, group and personal performance are also considered.
