We are seeking a versatile Solutions Mechanical Design Engineer to lead the physical design and development of our emerging energy infrastructure portfolio. In this role, you will bridge the gap between early customer discovery and formal engineering execution, serving as the primary mechanical architect.
Collaborating closely with Sales, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, and cross-functional engineering teams, you will translate complex customer requirements into scalable, high-quality mechanical systems engineered for structural integrity, thermal efficiency, and seamless grid integration.
The ideal candidate excels at direct client engagement—translating complex operational pain points into realistic proposals complete with defined scopes, schedules, and resource requirements. You will build and maintain strong technical relationships across both new and existing industry accounts, ensuring our mechanical solutions consistently deliver maximum value.
1. Solutions Architecture & Requirement Synthesis
- Technical Scoping: Interface directly with prospective clients to interpret specifications and translate ambiguous requirements into detailed mechanical specifications and Interface Control Documents (ICDs).
- Proposal Leadership: Lead technical scoping for proposals as the central mechanical Subject Matter Expert (SME), ensuring well-defined, executable scopes of work.
- System Trade-off Analysis: Analyze complex system architectures to recommend optimized mechanical solutions balancing performance, weight, cost, and manufacturability.
2. Advanced Mechanical Design & Verification
- Modeling & Simulation: Design and develop 3D mechanical concepts, enclosures, frame weldments, and sheet metal assemblies using CAD and advanced simulation software (FEA/Thermal).
- Modular Product Development: Create scalable, standardized mechanical modules that adhere strictly to client standards, company procedures, and global safety regulations.
- Verification & Validation (V&V): Formulate and execute comprehensive test plans to qualify mechanical systems and ensure full compliance in target operating environments.
3. Technical Leadership & Operations Support
- Design Governance: Lead formal design reviews, enforce robust modeling and documentation standards, and perform technical engineering calculations.
- Manufacturing & Supplier Alignment: Drive Design for Manufacturability/Assembly (DFM/DFA), collaborate with fabricators and vendors, and resolve manufacturing challenges during production runs.
- Cross-Functional Coordination: Manage project schedules, resource allocation, and technical deliverables, while mentoring junior design engineers.
- Lifecycle & Continuous Improvement: Support field commissioning and leverage operational feedback/data to continuously iterate on designs for improved reliability and deployment speed.
- CAD & Analysis: Expertise in Solid Works; proficient in FEA (Structural & Thermal), Thermal Modeling, Fluidics, and Tolerance Analysis.
- Materials & Fabrication: Advanced knowledge of Sheet Metal, Frame Weldments, Machined Parts, Extrusions, Die Castings, Welding, Plastics, and CNC manufacturing processes.
- Electromechanical Integration: Hands-on experience with sensors, moving parts, fluid systems, and mechanical automation for physical enclosures.
- Design Optimization: Strong application of DFM (Design for Manufacturability) and DFA (Design for Assembly) principles.
- Duties of this position are performed in a normal office environment.
- Duties may require extended periods of sitting and sustained visual concentration on a computer monitor or on…
