Summary

The Lead Principal Engineer supporting the MK48 program will serve as a senior technical authority for complex electronic systems. This role provides system- and hardware-level architectural leadership across the full product lifecycle, including design, integration, verification, qualification, production, and sustainment.

The engineer will define and evaluate architectures incorporating digital, analog, power-electronics, and mechanical technologies; translate system requirements into hardware requirements and interfaces; lead technical investigations; and provide direction to multidisciplinary engineering teams. The role is highly hands-on and requires expert-level electrical/electronic architecture and FPGA experience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Define, develop, and evaluate complex system and hardware architectures incorporating digital, analog, power-electronics, and mechanical elements.
  • Provide technical leadership for circuit design, modeling, simulation, integration, verification, and qualification.
  • Lead design reviews, architecture assessments, failure reviews, trade studies, and technical investigations.
  • Identify technical risks and develop mitigation strategies addressing performance, cost, schedule, and program impacts.
  • Perform root-cause analysis for development, production, and fielded-system issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Evaluate embedded processors, SoCs, FPGAs, memory technologies, and high-speed digital interfaces.
  • Support product roadmaps, technology insertion, technical proposals, and future capability development.
  • Identify opportunities to apply AI to engineering analysis, automation, and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure designs meet performance, reliability, cybersecurity, producibility, cost, schedule, and lifecycle objectives.
  • Review schematics, PCB layouts, BOMs, interface documentation, and design-analysis artifacts.
  • Support hardware builds, laboratory investigations, integration, qualification, production readiness, and sustainment.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related STEM field with 10+ years of job-related experience, OR Master’s degree with 8+ years of job-related experience.
  • Expert-level experience in Electrical/Electronic Architecture.
  • Expert-level experience with FPGAs.
  • Extensive experience designing, integrating, and troubleshooting complex electronic systems.
  • Experience across analog, digital, power-electronics, and mechanical interfaces, with deep expertise in one or more areas.
  • Demonstrated ability to make, communicate, and defend system/hardware architecture decisions.
  • Experience with embedded processors, FPGA/SoC-based systems, memory technologies, and high-speed digital interfaces.
  • Experience with DC/DC and DC/AC power conversion, power distribution, and power-system design.
  • Proficiency reviewing schematics, PCB layouts, BOMs, interface documentation, and engineering analyses.
  • Knowledge of signal integrity, power integrity, grounding, shielding, EMC, component derating, and electronic reliability.
  • Experience with mixed-signal circuit design.
  • Hands-on experience with oscilloscopes, power supplies, electronic loads, logic analyzers, probes, and related laboratory equipment.
  • Experience integrating and testing electronic assemblies within complex mechanical systems.
  • Experience supporting products through development, qualification, production, sustainment, failure investigation, and corrective action.
  • Strong technical judgment, analytical skills, and written/verbal communication.
  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • Ability to obtain a DoD Secret security clearance within a reasonable period after hire.
