Leidos' Defense Systems is seeking a Stress Analyst to join our team in Huntsville Alabama designing and analyzing the next generation of defense systems to protect America and its allies. You will perform stress analysis to support the design of cutting edge aerospace and defense programs. You will collaborate with designers and use FEMAP daily to ensure your team's design meets requirements.
You might work alongside the production team to install hardware or verify requirements. Then you'll work with the testing team to put your hardware into action. This is not your average engineering position. You are applying to be part of a team of the most talented engineers in the region who push you to be better every day. - Apply analytical methods, finite element models, simulations, and other engineering tools to develop models, perform structural and dynamic analyses, conduct calculations, reduce test data, and correlate results.
- Partner closely with design and manufacturing teams to deliver high-performance structures that meet demanding requirements for performance, manufacturability, and schedule.
- This is an in-office position with flexibility in schedule and work location. Remote work is the exception in your week, not the norm.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering from an ABET-accredited university.
- Posses 2-4 years of relevant industry experience with a BS degree or 0-2 years with an MS degree.
- Demonstrated experience with any of the commercial finite element analysis tools (e.g. FEMAP/NX NASTRAN, PATRAN/MSC NASTRAN, ANSYS, Abaqus, etc.).
- Strong technical writing, presentation, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Proven ability to thrive in a collaborative, multi-disciplinary engineering environment.
- Capable of working as part of a larger analysis team or working as the sole analyst on a project.
- U.S. citizenship and a current Final Secret Clearance-or eligibility to obtain and maintain one.
- Residence in, or willingness to relocate to, the Huntsville, Alabama area.
- Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or equivalent degree from an ABET-accredited university with a 3.5 or higher GPA.

- Application of nonlinear material properties to both FEA and hand calculations
- Integrated multi-physics analysis
- Bolted joint and weld analysis
- Dynamics analysis (modal, response spectrum, shock, vibration)
