Business Development Manager | Polymers, Coatings & Extrusion
A global materials manufacturer is expanding its commercial team and introducing new polymer technologies across multiple applications. This role combines business development with technical application knowledge and is designed for someone who can develop new customers while confidently working alongside engineers, R&D teams, converters, and manufacturing operations.
The position covers North, Central and South America and is remote within the United States. Candidates located in the Eastern, Central, or select Mountain time zones are preferred.
This is also expected to be a succession opportunity into commercial leadership as the organization expands its product portfolio and business.
What You'll Do
- Develop new business opportunities across coatings, extrusion coatings, paper applications, adhesives, laminations, polymers, and related engineered material applications.
- Identify new markets and customers for existing and newly introduced polymer technologies.
- Work directly with customers at manufacturing facilities to understand equipment, extrusion processes, application requirements, and technical challenges.
- Lead technical and commercial discussions with engineering, R&D, operations, procurement, and executive decision-makers.
- Support customer trials, product qualification, application development, and commercialization.
- Build relationships throughout the value chain and develop opportunities from initial concept through commercial agreement.
- Partner with internal Technology, R&D, Manufacturing, Marketing, and Product Development teams.
- Manage pipeline, opportunities, customer activity, and forecasting through Salesforce.
- Travel approximately 50% throughout the Americas.
What We're Looking For
- 5+ years of technical sales, business development, market development, or related commercial experience within polymers, coatings, adhesives, extrusion, or engineered materials.
- Technical degree in Chemical Engineering, Polymer Science, Materials Science, Chemistry, Packaging Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Strong understanding of extrusion and polymer processing with the technical confidence to discuss equipment, materials, processing, and applications directly with customers.
- Experience with coatings, extrusion coatings, paper coatings, laminations, adhesives, or related polymer applications strongly preferred.
- Experience supporting customer trials, product qualification, new product introductions, or commercialization.
- Demonstrated ability to develop new business and identify new applications for technical products.
- Experience using Salesforce CRM
. - Ability to travel approximately 75%.
