What Your Job Will Be LikeWe are seeking an Electromechanical Technologist to join our dynamic team. This team is responsible for the support of Mechanical Shock Facility, Drop Tower/Water Impact Facility and Mobile Gun Facility along with the Arming & Firing Team that supports explosive operations for 1530 testing facilities. The successful candidate must enjoy working in a dynamic environment on programs of critical national security importance which will challenge and develop the candidate's technical and communication skills.
On any given day, you may be called on to:
- Support test activities for indoor and outdoor facilities
- Build mechanical test assemblies for use in testing
- Support the construction of electrical sub-assemblies or systems in support of testing.
- Support prototype design and builds
- Support explosive builds for outdoor testing
- Procure materials and supporting equipment used for testing operations
- Troubleshoot, calibrate, adjust, certify equipment used for hazardous testing operations.
- Prepare or support the preparation of pre-test and post-test documentation
- Manage various interactions with FMOC for facility inspections
- Some travel required for off-site testing activities
Due to the nature of the work, the selected candidate must be able to work onsite.
Salary Range$74,700 - $144,400
* Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.
Qualifications We Require- High school diploma plus three years or more years of directly related experience, or equivalent combination of education and related experience
- Experience with activity-level work comprising of electrical or mechanical systems.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q clearance
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field
- Experience with electrical design
- Experience with electronic troubleshooting in a lab or field test
- Experience with electro-mechanical systems
- Experience with data acquisition systems, oscilloscopes, or other diagnostics equipment
- Experience with cable and basic electrical/electronic assemblies' fabrication
- Proficiency or certifications in soldering techniques
- Experience in maintaining laboratory facilities, hardware, and documentation, including calibration of controlled equipment.
- Experience with energetic firing sets
- Experience with cable management with respect to robustness and survivability
- Experience defining connector assemblies
- Experience in field testing to include electrical, mechanical, and/or explosive operations
- Ability and willingness to work in remote locations and field test environments
- Ability to work as part of multidisciplinary team
- Military diver experience
- EOD experience
Our team operates across three specialized test facilities and an explosive operations center, collectively supporting a wide range of dynamic testing environments. The Mechanical Shock Complex delivers tailored impact scenarios, including shock and crush events, simulating weapon delivery, accidents, and transportation crashes.
