Rotating Machinery Vibration Diagnostics Specialist

Shape the health of critical machines across the West. Wake up, check your vibration routes from your home office, load your company-provided truck, and head to a customer site where a high-speed pump is tripping alarms. By mid-morning, you’ve confirmed the fault frequencies, completed precision laser alignment, and balanced a stubborn fan. In the afternoon, you’re back online, refining alarm strategies and preparing a clear report that helps a maintenance leader prevent the next failure.

This is a day in the life at Caltrol-where vibration experts become trusted reliability advisors.

• Own Predictive Maintenance (PdM) programs—plan routes, collect and analyze data, and deliver actionable findings.
• Diagnose rotating equipment using vibration analysis, precision laser alignment, on-site balancing, phase analysis, resonance testing, and advanced troubleshooting.
• Build and optimize vibration databases (routes, measurement points, alarm strategies, and fault-frequency setups).
• Partner directly with customers through site visits, acceptance testing, and technical consultations to solve critical machinery and process issues.
• Collaborate with manufacturers, engineers, and maintenance teams to drive continuous improvement and reliability outcomes.
• Spot opportunities to elevate customer reliability programs and expand condition monitoring value.
• Mentor junior analysts and contribute to the technical excellence of Caltrol’s Reliability Services team.
• Continuously grow through field experience, advanced training, and industry-recognized certifications.

This is a home-and-field role with autonomy and flexibility. When you’re not on-site, you’ll work from a home office using company-provided technology. Customer sites span industrial manufacturing, biopharma, power generation, water/wastewater, and other process environments. Work may occur indoors or outdoors with varying temperatures and noise levels. Caltrol provides all required PPE.

70% travel across Northern California and the broader Caltrol territory, including California, Nevada, Arizona, Bakersfield, and the California Central Valley. Expect occasional overnights as customer and business needs dictate.

Anticipated hiring range: $36.50 - $44.50 per hour. Final compensation depends on experience, technical depth, certifications, demonstrated skills, geography, and internal equity.

• 0-2 years vibration/PdM experience: $36.50 - $39.00
• 3-5 years relevant experience: $39.00 - $42.00
• 5+ years with advanced troubleshooting, condition monitoring, and customer-facing expertise: $42.00 - $44.50

Additional compensation considerations:
Professional credentials (e.g., Vibration Institute Category I-III, ISO certifications, ultrasound, infrared thermography) may influence placement alongside overall experience, technical proficiency, industry knowledge, and performance.

• Associate degree in Mechanical/Industrial/Reliability Engineering or related field—or equivalent education, military training, and industry experience
• 4+ years in industrial maintenance, machinery diagnostics, reliability, predictive maintenance, or rotating equipment
