Our client is seeking a dedicated Production Chemist to join their team supporting operations in the Paarl area, with a hybrid work arrangement. This role focuses on managing and optimizing chemical processes involved in oil and gas production, ensuring product quality and operational efficiency. You will be responsible for laboratory analysis, process monitoring, and providing technical expertise to resolve chemical-related challenges.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in industrial chemistry and a keen eye for detail in a production environment.
- Monitor and control chemical injection systems and processes to optimize production and asset integrity.
- Perform regular laboratory analyses on produced fluids, water samples, and process streams.
- Analyze chemical treatment programs and recommend adjustments to improve performance and cost-effectiveness.
- Troubleshoot chemical-related issues impacting production, such as corrosion, scaling, or emulsion problems.
- Maintain accurate records of laboratory results, chemical usage, and process parameters.
- Collaborate with operations and engineering teams to implement new chemical solutions and technologies.
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related scientific field.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in industrial chemistry , preferably within the oil and gas sector.
- Proficiency in analytical laboratory techniques and instrumentation.
- Understanding of production chemistry principles, including corrosion inhibition, scale control, and water treatment.
- Ability to interpret data, identify trends, and make informed recommendations.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage tasks effectively in a hybrid work setting.
