DESCRIPTIONOF WORK
This position supports the drafting and development of highway and bridge plans using CADD workstations and conventional drafting methods. It involves preparing drawings, interpreting deeds and surveys, and assisting designers in producing complete plan sets. As a Highway Drafter, you will perform the following duties:
- Plan Preparation:
Create detailed highway, bridge, and right-of-way drawings using CADD and conventional drafting methods - Survey Interpretation:
Interpret deeds and surveys to produce accurate plan sheets and right-of-way layouts - Design Support:
Assist designers with developing complete plan sets, including profiles, cross sections, and templates - Data Tools:
Use RMS and Auto Tab to gather information and generate summary sheets for design projects - Library Maintenance:
Maintain assigned drafting libraries and report updates to the Lead CADD Operator - Project Participation:
Prepare maps and sketches, attend field views, assist with presentations, and document meeting minutes
- Full-time employment
- Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Telework:
You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part‑time upon successful completion of probationary period. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Montoursville. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time.

Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $46,827 (before taxes). - You will receive further communication regarding this position via email. - One year as an Engineering Technician (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration) ; or
- Two years of experience in a variety of drafting assignments, one of which shall have been in highway drafting, including six months CADD experience or training, and graduation from high school; or
- One year of experience in highway drafting and detailing assignments including six months of CADD experience or training and an Associate's Degree in civil engineering, drafting, or design technology; or
- Any equivalent combination of experience and/or training
