Position Summary
The Senior Operations Producer is responsible for overseeing the comprehensive execution of operational, technical, and logistical elements associated with remote sports television productions. This role demands a strategic and detail-oriented professional who can interpret, implement, and manage departmental standards and protocols to ensure accuracy, cost-efficiency, and timely delivery of assigned broadcasts. The senior producer serves as a key liaison between Operations Management and Production, leading all phases of event execution—from pre-production planning through on-site coordination and post-event wrap-up.
Responsibilities- Lead all operational and technical aspects of assigned sports.
- Provide guidance and training to Remote Operations staff, including Remote Operation Producers and Remote Operations Coordinators.
- Ensure ESPN Workplace Conduct and Safety Policies are followed as on-site senior manager of personnel.
- Meet timelines for technical and financial planning.
- Lead all on-site activity with crew, including approval of time-entry, travel, and overtime.
- Oversee and address performance issues on-site with crew as necessary.
- Vet and authorize identification of event-payrolled personnel assigned.
- Control all communications involving specific sport assignments related to vendors, league, and governing bodies.
- Interpret and apply technical, operational, and cost standards that affect accuracy, cost, and timeliness of events.
- Maintain advanced knowledge of high-definition broadcast standards and future developments.
- Ensure proper education for everyone working on the remote production team.
- Communicate daily with Event Production leadership on all aspects of the sport category.
- Attend industry events related to the sport category.
- Work with ESPN Finance on creation and maintenance of budgets.
- Assist in development and implementation of new technologies for sport category.
- 10+ years of related technical and/or operational planning, on-site management, and procurement experience.
- In-depth awareness of developments in equipment technology and procedures.
- In-depth knowledge of organization, procurement, financial, and logistics planning related to show creation.
- Higher working knowledge of high-definition technology and its application between remote and studio operations.
- Strong interpersonal skills, including voice and email communication, and negotiation.
- Advanced knowledge of technical equipment requirements of ESPN’s and ABC Sports remote operations functions.
- Understanding of procurement aspects of technical and operational equipment needed to carry out broadcast.
- Knowledge of hiring and payment policies.
- Ability to operate within defined goals of the Remote Operations department.
- Ability to maintain communication flow with peers, share best practices, and maximize contractor contacts.
- In-depth understanding of procurement aspects of technical and operational equipment needed to carry out broadcasts.
- Thorough knowledge of PC databases, Word, Excel, and related software.
- High School Diploma or Equivalent.
- Bachelor’s Degree.
Position requires ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
Compensation & BenefitsThe hiring range for this remote position is $117,760 to $186,230 per year, depending on geographic region and other factors. The base pay will be determined based on internal equity and may vary by candidate experience. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and other benefits appropriate to the level and position offered.
