Storyboard Artist – Temp (SFD / Cinematics)
Blizzard Entertainment is looking to hire a Storyboard Artist to join our Creative Development team. The ideal candidate will be an outstanding draftsperson, a storyteller at heart, and experienced in action‑adventure and drama storytelling, with strong knowledge of dynamic staging, filmmaking fundamentals and character acting. A team player who enjoys working in a fun, fast‑paced environment.
This role is a hybrid work position, with a primary location at Irvine, CA, but remote work arrangements can be discussed. The position is roughly a 3‑month temporary assignment.
Responsibilities- Create storyboard sequences from thumbnail to rough to clean finish implementing storytelling objectives laid out by the script, outline and Director.
- Ensure storyboards align with the creative goals of the leadership team and maintain consistent visual style, tone and storytelling objectives of the series and IPs.
- Collaborate with the Director to discuss storytelling direction, design requirements and expected level of polish for each episode.
- Collaborate with creative leadership and production to review goals and vision, discuss timeline, complexity and schedule constraints.
- Meet regularly with Supervisor, Director, Producer, Editor and fellow Storyboard Artists to review, execute and revise storyboards.
- Pitch storyboards to Supervisor, Director, crew, executives and stakeholders; receive feedback and implement notes.
- When requested, attend and contribute to script meetings and pitches to offer feedback from a storyboarding perspective.
- Follow proper document management and delivery requirements according to production guidelines.
- 5+ years as storyboard artist and/or director.
- Strong figurative and perspective draftsmanship; relevant drawing experience is required.
- Ability to draw characters on model and in a 3‑D setting, producing clear, entertaining cleaned‑up storyboards.
- Adventurous staging, cinematography and composition skills through drawing and software use.
- Advanced knowledge of hardware and software including Cintiq, Toon Boom Storyboard Pro and Photoshop;
Blender 3D a plus. - Proficiency in timing, screen direction, continuity and the language of cinema.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; able to give clear specific direction on storyboards.
- Strong time‑management skills and ability to meet deadlines.
- Able to work from directors’ or fellow artists’ thumbnails to complete final boards within deadlines.
- Capable of providing status updates, troubleshooting and reviewing potential changes with production staff.

CompensationIn the U.S., the standard base pay range for this role is $35.03 - $64.80 hourly. Pay is based on experience, performance and location.
