Job Overview

Join the Res Life team today! A Residence Life Desk Attendant is a great way to improve your marketable skills for future employment, such as those pertaining to communication, customer service, critical thinking and problem-solving, time management, and administrative ability.

Applications will be accepted on an ongoing basis with review beginning March 11th, 2026 and on a rolling basis until successful candidates are identified.

Candidate Profile

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join our team. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills in English, both verbal and written, and be comfortable working with a diverse population. This role requires the ability to manage conflict resolution, work independently and collaboratively, and complete tasks efficiently with strong organizational skills. Candidates should possess excellent problem‑solving abilities, sound judgment in decision‑making, and a positive, approachable attitude.

Proficiency in Microsoft and Google Suite applications is essential, along with effective interpersonal skills. The position is office‑based and requires the ability to lift and carry up to 15 pounds.

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must complete all UAS employee Required Training (including Safety training, Title IX, Protection of Minors, Campus Security Authority, and FERPA) within two weeks of their hire date.

Preference is given to applicants with a minimum of two semesters of community living experience prior to their term of employment, but is not required.

To be eligible for student employment, an applicant must:

  • Be enrolled in the University of Alaska system with a minimum of six credit hours in the current semester of employment; or
  • Have been enrolled the preceding semester for six or more credit hours and demonstrate plans to enroll for six or more credit hours in the next semester for employment between semesters;
  • Have at least a 2.0 cumulative grade point average (GPA), be in good academic standing, or have approval from the MAU Senior Student Services officer or its designee.
  • Students enrolled in non‑traditional programs of study will be considered eligible for student employment with the approval of the Senior Student Services officer.
  • An applicant must provide evidence of enrollment as outlined above to substantiate employment eligibility.
  • Position Details

    This position is located on the UAS campus in Juneau. It is a part‑time, non‑exempt Student Level 2 position, starting wage $14.38/hr.

    Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis until a successful candidate is identified. This is a pooled position and applications are reviewed as needed. Submission of an application does not guarantee review or a job offer.

Hybrid and remote work may be approved for employees based in Alaska at the university’s discretion.
