Music Catalog Research Intern

Anti Fragile Equity Partners Inc.

REMOTE Internship (10-15 Hours Per Week)

Company Description

Anti Fragile Equity Partners Inc. is a music intellectual-property investment and acquisition company focused on identifying, acquiring, and growing high-quality music recording and publishing catalogs.

We evaluate established catalogs across a wide range of genres, with particular attention to durable streaming activity, publishing income, cultural relevance, sync potential, international reach, and opportunities for improved monetization. Our team combines extensive music-industry experience with disciplined research, financial analysis, rights diligence, and creative catalog-growth strategies.

We are seeking one or two highly motivated interns who are passionate about music and interested in learning how music catalogs are researched, evaluated, valued, and acquired.

Role Description

The Music Catalog Research Intern will work remotely with the Anti Fragile Equity Partners team to help identify and research potential music-catalog acquisition opportunities.

Interns will receive specific research assignments and work under close supervision. Projects may involve researching recording artists, songwriters, producers, independent labels, music publishers, and individual music catalogs, as well as gathering and organizing information relevant to potential acquisitions.

This is an opportunity to gain practical exposure to the rapidly growing field of music intellectual-property investing and to learn how recording and publishing catalogs are assessed from commercial, creative, rights, and financial perspectives.

Strong performance in the internship could lead to a longer-term part-time or full-time opportunity with the company.

Responsibilities
  • Research recording artists, songwriters, producers, independent labels, publishers, and music catalogs that may represent potential acquisition targets.
  • Analyze publicly available information relating to streaming activity, audience growth, release history, catalog depth, ownership, publishing rights, geographic reach, and market positioning.
  • Research individual songs and recordings across platforms such as Spotify, Apple Music, You Tube, Tik Tok, Sound Cloud, Discogs, Music Brainz, PRO databases, and other music-industry resources.
  • Help identify catalogs that appear under-monetized, under-promoted, under-administered, or otherwise positioned for future growth.
  • Organize research findings into clear spreadsheets, databases, summaries, and internal reports.
  • Assist with preliminary catalog screening and comparative analysis.
  • Track potential acquisition targets and maintain accurate internal records.
  • Research managers, attorneys, business managers, labels, publishers, and other representatives connected to prospective catalog owners.
  • Support additional research and administrative projects relating to catalog acquisition, music rights, royalties, and intellectual property.
  • Handle confidential and commercially sensitive information responsibly.
Qualifications
  • Strong interest in music, recording catalogs, music publishing, intellectual property, streaming economics, and the business of acquiring music rights.
  • Excellent online research skills and the ability to locate, verify, organize, and summarize information from multiple sources.
  • Strong attention to detail, especially when working with names, song titles, release dates, ownership information, revenue data, and catalog metadata.
  • Comfort using Excel, Google Sheets, online databases, and general research tools.
  • Clear and professional written communication skills.
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions, meet deadlines, and work independently in a remote environment.
  • Sound judgment and discretion when handling confidential information.
  • A proactive, intellectually curious, and analytical mindset.
Preferred Experience

Relevant coursework or experience in one or more of the following areas is preferred:

  • Music business
  • Music publishing
  • Record-label operations
  • Finance or investment research
  • Data analysis

Familiarity with music-industry platforms and databases such as Spotify, You Tube, Chartmetric, Songstats, Sound charts, Luminate, Discogs, Music Brainz, ASCAP, BMI, SESAC, The MLC, Songview, or similar resources is a plus.

Internship Structure
  • Remote position. Weekly video call meetings with team for guidance and instructions.
  • 10-15 Hours Per Week.
  • Flexible schedule, coordinated around assigned projects and deadlines.
  • Direct supervision and feedback from members of the Anti Fragile Equity Partners team.
  • Potential pathway to a future part-time or full-time role based on performance, business needs, and availability.
