The role creates 3D environments for user-generated-content games and covers landscapes, props, structures, and environmental assets. Sawhorse Productions is a Los Angeles-based full-service creative studio that produces branded content, social work, and interactive experiences. Its interactive work includes Roblox projects as well as projects for Fortnite, Rec Room, and ZEPETO. The artist position requires at least four years of 3D environment design and a portfolio with completed Roblox projects.

Applicants should have a focused portfolio of completed Roblox projects, a clear record of 3D environment work, and evidence of production software experience. Candidates can settle their availability for PST core hours and their preference for office or remote work before submitting materials.
Roblox Worlds And Environmental AssetsThe Roblox Environmental Artist designs spaces that support both visual direction and game play. Landscapes, props, structures, and other environmental assets become parts of a world with a consistent visual language, readable player routes, and details that support the setting’s story. The role also calls for environments that connect cleanly to the flow of play rather than functioning as isolated images.
Environmental storytelling gives a scene information through its architecture, materials, lighting, scale, and placement of objects. A strong production scene answers practical questions through its design: where a player can move, which objects can be read at a distance, and which details belong close to the camera. The artist works through those choices while building 3D worlds for user-generated-content games.
Streaming Enabled And Export WorkflowsRoblox Studio is the primary platform for the role, and the production pipeline also uses Blender, Maya, or equivalent software. The artist exports FBX files that work in Roblox, prepares assets for streaming, and uses low-poly methods when scene performance requires tighter geometry. Substance Painter or Substance Designer experience, along with Unity or Unreal knowledge, are preferred additions.

- Integration and performance troubleshooting
Optimization work begins before a scene reaches the game. Asset density, texture decisions, visibility, and file setup affect how efficiently an environment loads and runs. The artist also troubleshoots integration or performance issues after assets enter the project, so a portfolio can carry more weight when it includes process notes and technical decisions alongside final images.
Art Direction And Client ReviewsThe artist works with Art Directors, Technical Artists, and Game Designers while interpreting briefs from clients and stakeholders. Reviews, brainstorming sessions, and feedback cycles are part of the production process, so the work includes presenting decisions and revising assets after discussion. Verbal and written communication keep visual choices connected to the brief and the game's intended player experience.
