Join FGM Architects as a Controller. Highly skilled accounting professional required with strong GAAP knowledge, audit processes, and financial oversight.

Westchester, IL | Hybrid Work Schedule (work from home Mondays and Fridays, flexible schedule)

$145,000 – $165,000 per year

• Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements.
• Ensure accounting procedures are followed to maintain proper records and internal controls.
• Lead tax preparation, audit and review activities, including ESOP, 401(k) and FAR overhead audits.
• Assist in maximizing corporate tax position and evaluating tax deduction use cases.
• Coordinate and prepare practice area and corporate budgets, reforecasts, and operational reports.
• Provide variance analysis and monitor budget performance.
• Oversee production of monthly operating reports and project financial reviews.
• Support project and accounting teams in financial planning for projects.
• Review GL entries of payroll with HR department and maintain corresponding schedules.
• Perform periodic balance sheet account reviews and general ledger reconciliations.
• Manage budgeting software updates and audit accurate pay per policies.
• Assist in overhead annual budget preparation with Finance Director.
• Handle project accounting tasks when needed, including checking run and payroll accuracy.
• Hire, train, supervise, and mentor the accounting team.
• Monitor short-term cash flow, expenditures, bank reconciliations, fraud risk, and online banking.
• Process allocations, accruals, depreciation and amortization entries.
• Oversee annual ESOP distributions, divestitures and related stock transactions.
• Calculate allowable overhead (FAR) for government project proposals.
• Assist in insurance policy application preparation.
• Support marketing and business development in RFQ/RFP responses.

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting; CPA preferred.
• 7+ years progressive accounting experience.
• Strong GAAP technical accounting knowledge.
• Knowledge of Federal Acquisition Rate principles (plus).
• Experience in the A/E/C industry and proficiency with Deltek Vision or Vantagepoint (plus).
• Highly organized, detail oriented with precision.
• Strong work ethic, collaborative team player.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects independently.
