Associate Degree Apprenticeship Program - Underwriting Associate Summer

Overview

Zurich North America is accepting resumes for the 2026 Associate Degree Apprenticeship Program - Underwriting Associate - Multiple Locations (Summer 2026). The program launches at the beginning of Summer 2026 (as early as June 16 through July 20) and combines virtual coursework with work rotations in Zurich North America’s local offices.

Locations include Atlanta, Chicago, Philadelphia, or New York City.

• Support the Excess Casualty - Underwriting Account Service Team with end-to-end servicing of accounts.
• Access and evaluate underwriting processes while implementing best practices.
• Follow instructions from underwriters in areas of policy rating and pricing.
• Review the application of mandatory policy forms in relation to accounts.
• Resolve inquiries from brokers, underwriters, and internal customers.

The two-year program combines virtual coursework at Harper Community College with work rotations at Zurich North America’s local offices. The ideal candidate is seeking a first-time associate degree and has minimal prior college credits.

• Work in a paid, benefit-eligible full-time position at Zurich while attending school.
• Schedule:
  
  3 days/week work, 2 days/week school, paid for all 40 hours/week.
• Earn a tuition-free Associate in Applied Science degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Insurance (virtually at Harper College).
• Receive a Department of Labor Certificate of Apprenticeship.
• Develop credentials and skills for today’s marketplace.

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Professional work experience not required.
• Must be enrolled and validated as college-ready by Harper Community College Admissions (separate application process that can occur concurrently with Zurich's application).

• 1+ years of work experience and/or leadership in student activities or significant voluntary community service.
• Interest in pursuing a career in the insurance industry.
• Ability to balance multiple priorities between work and school deadlines.
• Strong customer service, collaboration, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• High degree of self-discipline and focus; attention to detail; ability to collaborate in a team environment.
• Intermediate Excel skills; ability to navigate online learning environments.
