Central City Opera House Association, based in one of Colorado’s National Landmark Historic Districts just 35 miles west of Denver, is the nation’s fifth-oldest opera company. Known for its annual summer festival, it brings professional, artistically excellent opera to its audiences. The company provides career-entry training for young singers, produces impactful education and community programs, and preserves the historic Opera House along with 28 Victorian-era properties.

The Senior Director of Finance & Controller is a full-time, hybrid role based in Wheat Ridge, CO, with the flexibility for some remote work. This leadership position is responsible for overseeing the organization’s financial planning, budgeting, and reporting functions. Day-to-day tasks include preparing and analyzing financial statements and reports, ensuring compliance with financial regulations, managing budgets, and collaborating with other departments to support the organization’s strategic objectives.

The role also involves developing financial strategies and maintaining fiscal responsibility to ensure the organization’s ongoing sustainability and success.

• Strong background in Financial Planning, Budgeting, and Financial Strategy development
• Proficiency in preparing Financial Statements and thorough understanding of Financial Reporting
• Exceptional Analytical Skills and expertise in Finance-related decision-making
• Proven ability to ensure accurate financial documentation and compliance with regulations
• Leadership and team management experience
• Proficiency with financial systems and software
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field; CPA or MBA preferred
• Experience in nonprofit finance or arts organizations is a plus
