Cohn Reznick is seeking a Senior Associate to join the Real Estate team in Client Accounting Advisory. This is a remote position; duties may be performed from elsewhere, with occasional in-person attendance at a Cohn Reznick office for client work, team meetings, or trainings as needed.

The Client Accounting Advisory Team provides accounting, advisory, and technology services, including books and records maintenance, close management, routine tax filings, virtual controller/CFO services, and accounting technology solutions.

YOUR ROLE.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Support the Real Estate accounting team. Responsible for client execution and timely delivery of client’s work product
  • Independently perform accounting services for clients, including managing teams to meet goals and benchmarks for performance and execution of client work (e.g., delivering monthly financials, skill development, budgeting and time management)
  • Perform thorough self-review of all work prior to submission for final review
  • Develop proficiency in technology relevant to performance of work and assist other staff as a resource
  • Ensure quality control procedures are followed and executed
  • Identify areas for process improvement for client work and/or practice operations
  • Build and maintain positive client, colleague, and internal stakeholder relationships
  • Respond timely and accurately to internal team and client requests
  • Develop efficient work habits to support the organization within budgetary time and deadline parameters
  • Communicate difficult situations encountered on engagements to leadership
  • Maintain compliance with firm-wide policies and procedures
  • Represent and promote the Firm positively
  • Participate in mentoring, recruiting, retention and team-building activities related to job responsibilities
  • Proactively seek knowledge, new tasks, and responsibilities
  • Follow regulations and professional ethics of the AICPA and the state society
Qualifications

The successful candidate will have:

  • Bachelors Degree strongly preferred
  • CPA preferred but not required
  • 1+ years of Real Estate industry experience
  • Proven ability to drive and lead month-end close processes with ownership of deadlines and review of work by others
  • Strong GAAP experience with hands-on experience performing consolidations, GL close, and financial reporting for the renewable energy industry
  • Strong experience with real estate projects, development and/or contractor operations and related entities, including project costing and transfers between entities
  • Strong communication, documentation, and presentation skills
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills; proficient in Microsoft Office (especially Excel with Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP, SUMIFS)
  • Hands-on operational accounting experience in Quick Books, Net Suite, Sage Intacct, BILL, BILL Spend and Expense (former Divvy) or similar AP/Expense tools
  • Strong project and time management skills
  • Accuracy and attention to detail; action-oriented (self-starter, team player)
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Significant knowledge of accounting and finance processes with strong financial statement preparation and analysis
