THE POSITION
Public School Employees' Retirement System (PSERS) is searching for an Accountant 3 to join the Office of Financial Management (OFM) team. This position will handle financial activities of PSERS Hybrid Plan, including new Defined Contribution Plan (DC) investments under Act 5, and the production and analysis of annual 1099‑R and 1042‑S forms. The role reports to senior management and oversees an Accountant 2 engaged with responsibilities for the PSERS Hybrid Plan including DC.

This position serves as a working Accountant 3 and provides oversight for the investment reporting of the Fund’s DC plan investments. Reports include, but are not limited to, financial management and performance‑related reports of mutual funds; domestic and global fixed income; short‑term; derivatives; options; futures; commodities; and FX transactions.
In this role you will:
- Plan, organize, and direct an Accountant 2.
- Work closely with third‑party administrator’s accounting staff.
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of all reporting.
- Complete and verify reconciliation and analysis of general ledger accounts.
- Research and resolve routine, unique, and complex investment accounting transactions.
- Work with implementation consultant, third‑party administrator, and other key areas at PSERS to implement all financial management activities of the new hybrid plans.
- Assist in analysis, compilation, reconciliation, and production of the annual 1099‑R tax forms for over 280,000 recipients.
- Develop and maintain controls for detecting misuse and/or loss of funds by monitoring the new third‑party administrator for the Defined Contribution Plan.
- Perform full scope of supervisory responsibilities for the Accountant 2.

7:30 AM–4:00 PM, Monday–Friday, with 60‑minute lunch. - Telework:
Opportunity to work from home part‑time. Hybrid telework eligibility depends on operational and executive leadership requirements. - Salary:
In some cases, the starting salary may be non‑negotiable.
- One year as an Accountant 2 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
- Three years of progressively responsible professional accounting experience, plus graduation from a four‑year college or university with at least fifteen credits in accounting.
- Four years of bookkeeping experience and fifteen college credits in accounting may substitute for college graduation.
- A Master’s degree in Accounting or related field may substitute for one year of general work experience.
