Position: EU AML Lead (Spain)

EU AML Lead (Spain)

Crossmint is the leading enterprise‑grade, all‑in‑one stablecoin infrastructure enabling fintechs and enterprises to integrate stablecoin rails and smart wallets with speed, compliance, and scale. Trusted by more than 40,000 clients including global leaders such as Money Gram, WireX, Toku, and more. Crossmint provides embedded smart wallets, on/offramps, cross‑chain stablecoin orchestration, token checkout, and other blockchain primitives through simple, developer‑friendly APIs, no blockchain engineers required.

Backed by Ribbit Capital, Franklin Templeton, and other top investors. With the approval of MiCA and our active work toward EU‑wide regulatory coverage, Crossmint is entering a new phase of growth, where compliance, trust, and scale go hand in hand.

The future of finance is crypto‑native. Crossmint makes it easy to get there.

Location

We have offices in Madrid, and we are also open to a full remote setting from Spain.

Type of Employment

Full‑time, indefinite contract.

The Role

We are looking for an EU AML Lead to take full ownership of Crossmint’s anti‑money laundering framework across Europe. This is a senior, high‑impact role with direct exposure to regulators, auditors, and executive leadership, reporting directly to the General Counsel.

You will be responsible for designing, implementing, and continuously improving Crossmint’s AML program as we scale across the EU under MiCA and beyond. This includes ensuring readiness for regulatory supervision, strengthening internal controls, and embedding AML best practices across products, operations, and partnerships.

The candidate will be immediately appointed AMLRO with SEPBLAC, becoming the named individual responsible for AML matters in Spain while supporting Crossmint’s broader European regulatory strategy.

Crossmint is a scale‑up. This role combines strategic ownership with hands‑on execution. You will set direction, but you will also personally review escalations, oversee complex onboardings, and ensure the program works in real‑world conditions. If you want to build and lead AML at the center of programmable finance, this is that role.

What You’ll Do Own EU AML Strategy and Execution

Design, implement, and maintain Crossmint’s AML framework in line with EU directives, MiCA requirements, and local regulations. Partner closely with Legal to ensure policies, procedures, and controls scale with the business.

Regulatory Engagement as AMLRO

Act as the primary AML point of contact for regulators, auditors, and banking partners. Appointment as AMLRO with SEPBLAC, leading regulatory filings and supervisory interactions.

Hands‑On Risk Management
  • Review escalations involving high‑risk users, transactions, or counter parties.
  • Supervise onboarding of large, strategic, or complex enterprise clients.
  • Lead enhanced due diligence cases and determine risk outcomes.
  • File SARs and manage special investigations when required.
Strengthen Internal Controls
  • Design and monitor AML‑related controls to mitigate financial crime, fraud, and regulatory risk.
  • Ensure alignment with broader compliance frameworks such as SOC 2, ISO, and DORA.
Cross‑Functional Collaboration
  • Work closely with Product, Risk, Finance, Security, and Engineering to embed AML controls into workflows and APIs.
  • Influence product design to ensure compliance by default.
Build and Champion AML Culture
  • Train teams across the company on AML responsibilities and risk awareness.
  • Position compliance as a growth enabler, not a blocker.
What We’re Looking For
  • 6+ years of experience in AML, compliance, internal controls, risk management, and audit.
  • Proven expertise in KYC/KYB, AML, sanctions screening, SAR preparation, and fraud detection.
  • Familiarity with MiCA/VASP, GDPR, DORA, SOC 2, ISO, and related frameworks. Blockchain or crypto compliance experience is a strong plus.
  • Web3 experience and strong knowledge of on‑chain analysis tools (Elliptic, Chainalysis, Persona, Notabene) is highly desirable.
  • Experience with global AML frameworks: EU Fifth Directive, US Bank Secrecy Act, FATF Recommendations, etc. as they apply to fintech and payment services.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., CAMS, CISA, CIA) are a plus.
  • Excelle…
