Location: Playa Vista, CA

Hourly Compensation: $40-47 per hour. Hourly rate commensurate with experience.

Shift: Standard business hours; 8 hours per day.

Work Location: Hybrid Remote, Two days On-Site;
Three days (3) remote work.

Job Type: Potentially long term engagement; good possibility for temporary to hire for the right person.

Experience: Must have a 4-year Accounting or Finance Degree (BS/BA)

Company Size: Under 100 million in annual revenue.

Keys to Job: Bank reconciliation, prepare and post journal entries and maintain supporting schedules, reconcile balance sheet accounts monthly, perform variance/flux analysis, fund accounting, investigate discrepancies, maintain fixed asset subledger and track capital expenditures. Overview

This Senior Accountant - Temporary position applies expert-level knowledge of accounting standards to oversee the accuracy, integrity, and efficiency of financial records, reporting and fund accounting. Reporting to the Accounting Manager, the position focuses on analyzing transactions, reconciling systems, enhancing business processes through technology and redesign, ensuring regulatory and policy compliance, and providing leadership to support accurate financial outcomes and stakeholder needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform monthly bank reconciliations, prepare and post journal entries (including accruals, adjustments, and supporting schedules), and maintain detailed documentation for audit readiness.
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts monthly, conduct variance/flux analysis on financial results, investigate and resolve discrepancies, and ensure timely corrections to maintain ledger integrity.
  • Manage the fixed asset subledger, track capital expenditures, depreciation, additions/disposals, and related reporting to support accurate asset valuation, compliance and fund accounting.
  • Review, verify, and reconcile accounting transactions and records for precision, completeness, and proper documentation; resolve discrepancies and prevent errors or irregularities through thorough research and adjustments.
  • Prepare, analyze, and summarize financial reports, statements, and trends in standard formats; identify issues and recommend solutions to senior leadership. Must have strong MS Excel skills.
  • Manage daily accounts payable processing, provide team guidance, oversee 1099 compliance and filing, and handle sales/use tax returns.
  • Initiate journal entries, uploads, and financial system adjustments; assist with ERP enhancements, system upgrades, and IT collaborations for improved functionality.
  • Design reporting templates, implement internal controls for data reliability, and support audit preparation (including coordination for financial statements and compliance audits).
  • Assess and redesign financial workflows and processes in partnership with stakeholders; implement improvements, develop procedures, deliver training, and communicate changes to end-users.
  • Act as a key contact for internal/external inquiries, clarifying financial data and resolving issues; serve as backup for other financial staff and potentially support special projects or capital initiatives.
  • Provide coaching, development, and work guidance to junior accountants, financial team members, or support staff.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance
  • In-depth experience with GAAP principles, financial auditing, and tax compliance/filing processes.
  • Must have strong MS Excel skills;
    Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel for analysis and reporting.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 4+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally including oversight of business office functions in a non-profit or similar structured setting.
  • Prior involvement in technology implementations, system enhancements, or process redesign initiatives.
