Position: Full-Charge Accountant

Engberg Anderson is seeking a Full-Charge Accountant to oversee our financial operations and support the growth of our practice. This is a leadership role for a financial professional who thrives in a collaborative, project-based environment and is excited to partner with both executives and project teams. We are seeking a key team member who will be regarded for their knowledge, intellect, and support of our team and clients while owning the accounting and finance function for the firm.

The Accountant will advise the Principals of the firm on issues related to strategic and tactical financial planning, risk assessment and mitigation, trend analysis and asset management. They will assist us in maintaining relationships with the firm's financial institutions, outside Financial Consultant/CPA, consultants, and legal counsel. In addition, the accountant will help to ensure that the firm's financial monitoring systems and performance are consistent with the goals, objectives, and vision of the firm.

The position calls for commitment, teamwork, independent judgment, initiative, and excellent communications and technical skills.

The Accountant will report directly to the firm's management and work closely with the President and Treasurer, as well as our outside Financial Consultant. In this role, the Accountant will coordinate the company's finance and accounting matters which will include accounts receivables, accounts payables, bank reconciliation, cash, and general ledger accounts.

Key areas you will focus on include (but not limited to):
  • Management of bqeCORE, the firm's financial management, accounting, and timesheet program.
  • Oversee the financial structure and contractual progress of projects for billing purposes.
  • Accounts Receivable- including the preparation of all invoices in coordination with principals and collections.
  • Oversight of Accounts Payable activity by bookkeeping staff.
  • Provide weekly financial reports to the Principals, including cash flow, monthly expenses and revenue reports, AP, and AR, including participation in the weekly Principal meeting.
  • Oversight of deposits.
  • Keep track of bank balances daily.
  • Bank and credit card reconciliations, with the assistance of a bookkeeping staff.
  • Submit semi-monthly payroll and record in CORE.
  • Provide W-9, COI's (general & professional) to clients.
  • Assist Principals with the annual budget.
  • Assist with Financial Consultant/CPA with year-end compilation and tax returns.
  • Oversight of annual filings with various State agencies.
  • Forecasting of cash flow and cash on hand.
  • Secure credit facilities and maintain covenants with bank in cooperation with Principals.
  • Enhance financial relationships with the bank, CPA, and other financial institutions.
  • Assist the Principals in evaluating and recommending strategies to the company's operations cost of business, including but not limited to employee benefits, 401k plans, health and welfare benefits, Error and Omissions insurance, and general insurance.
  • Assist in the training of our Project Managers in the use of CORE and other financial tools.

  • A highly ethical professional background with strategic vision and sound technical skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business, or related field.
  • 4-6+ years of related work experience with a minimum of 2 years of recent experience in an accounting role for a similar-sized professional services firm, Architecture, Engineering, Construction experience a plus.
  • Working knowledge of bqeCORE preferred but not required.
  • Advanced Excel skills required.
  • Excellent communication skills and an ability to present information clearly to those without a financial background.
