Responsibilities:
- Assist Tax Leadership in the continuous development of technological tax automation for improved scalability, accuracy, and reporting.
- Assist with the preparation of quarterly tax estimates, extensions, and payments.
- Prepare and post monthly tax-related journal entries. Maintain and reconcile tax expense accounts and balance sheet accruals, ensuring accuracy and alignment with GAAP.
- Initiate and track all federal, state, and local tax payments. Communicate variances in requested refunds and changes in carry forwards to relevant parties.
- Champion the Company’s Tax Fixed Asset software and maintain and review all applicable federal and state tax fixed asset and depreciation records.
- Work closely with the Company’s tax preparers to provide information and analysis in conjunction with interim and year-end tax compliance.
- Maintain a comprehensive tax calendar to track deadlines and ensure that filing obligations are met across the various jurisdictions in which Mission operates.
- Partner with legal and accounting to maintain and update the Company’s legal and tax hierarchy to ensure all systems are complete and accurate.
- Support tax audits and inquiries including gathering data, data analysis and response to inquiries from tax authorities.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA candidate or active CPA is preferred.
- Three years of relevant tax accounting experience within either public accounting or industry.
- Proficiency in Excel is required, including advanced formulas and pivot tables to analyze large data sets. Experience with Workday is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail, analytical, communication and problem-solving skills required.
- Proven ability to manage multiple deadlines and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
