Remote position, ideally based somewhere in Southern California with the need to travel 2-3 days a month to Boron, California.
The responsibilities of the Controller position are as follows:- Lead the AR, AP and general accounting teams, ensuring that career development, training and support promote excellent standards in all areas of the team.
- Play a key role in manufacturing cost accounting, enabling recommendations with respect to cost control, variance analysis, and accurate reporting.
- Lead inventory cost analysis and control in accordance with corporate procedures.
- Responsible for accurate reporting across the full P&L, all ledgers and month-end reporting.
- Champion absolute accuracy in all month-end, quarterly, and annual financial reporting.
- Work closely with CFO to support tax compliance and adherence to all financial regulatory requirements.
- Act as the ERP subject matter expert, ensuring up-to-date financial information is included for all internal stakeholders.
- Promote a culture of world-class accounting procedures within all areas of the team, including complex variance analysis, aged receivables, working capital, product cost vs revenue targets, and profit optimization.
- Degree qualified in either Accounting or Business Management
- CPA certified (preferred but not essential)
- Demonstrable background of success in a complex manufacturing environment
- Ability to drive accurate reporting in P&L variance, inventory cost variance and reporting
- Excellent ERP skills (acting as the company’s subject matter expert)
- Exhibit a strong, ambitious personality with the ability to lead
- Ability to engage with the Senior Leadership Team and present accurate financial data
- Excellent communication skills at all levels
